Lighting Help with lighting led/hps

I will be getting some lighting for my 2mx2mx2m tent and i was going to get 2 or 3 600w/400w mh/hps lighting kits lummi ballasts digital dimmable from amazon.....but ive been reading alot about led lighting but i cant seem to figure out what light would give the same coverage as hps im looking to use 75-80% of my tent for growing and the rest for fans,res ect.any info on a good lighting setup LED or HPS would be nice thank all i will be growing in soil...if that makes a diffrence

Two 300w black stars would be good in that area and still give you room for your fans ect.
You may be better off getting a 1000w hps or dual spec in there as would fit the tent nicely instead of getting two 600w ect.
All depends on your budget though bro, them black stars are pretty expensive but can yield the same as a hps as most people would argue. The hps/mh would give off more heat than the blackstars so you may want to think about a cool tube.

well i was gona get 3 lummi lighting kits £125 a pop and a 4" and 6" rhino extraction kits wit filters £100 and£150...all on amazon... i still have time to change this......as long as i can cover 75% of the tent with enough light to get some nice solid tasty bud,im happyi dont mind having 1 big light or more smaller one's.....if ye had a few ideas it would be great as i dont have much first hand XP,i read alot about it but its hard to get the answers i need, like would 1 big light cover such a big area and still get good dence buds? Thank's for the input guys
...i was just checking out blackstar and i couldnt see a 300w light....just 240w and 500w is the next 1up am i on a diffrent blackstar??can you post your link to that site please.

You shouldn't need two fans with LEDs. One good extraction fan and passive intake. :thumbs:

Check this site out HERE. You could put two 500 watt Blackstars in there. Initial purchase is high, but so worth it. Or five 240 watt panels.

Hey squid, I'm looking to get a black star for my tent. I have a 2x4x4 tent...I've been trying to figure out what I would want for it...the 180 or the 240? I'm going to keep vegging under cfl, but I want to flower under the led. Any advice? I feel like the 240 is a better deal, but I don't want it to be too much for my space.

A 1000 watter should cover 4x4I would think.

The 240 watter would be best for half of a 2x4 tent, Darwin.

thanks squid:thumbs:but i still dont no what to go for....and i wont have the chance to do this more than 1 or 2 times a year so i want to get the best yield i can....to fully light 75% of the tent in led is lookn like abit of a strech on cash, it would mean investing more than im happy with at the moment,im thinking ill get 1x 1000w hps & 1x 600w hps/mh or 3x 600w hps/mh i dont no if the 1000&600 watter combo will grow some big dence bud or would the more coverage from the 3 600watter's yield better???i will defo be checkn out them led lights but i think ill be using them for multi stelth grows wit just 1plant under each 1. seems like you could grow with them with very little equipment and almost any where you can squeeze them in....sounds great to me....this time round i think ill just go for the hps, i would love to grow 500g because this would keep me going for 5-6 months, it would be great not to have to get med's for that long at a timejust doin it with nature's best:grat:now that would be Heaven to me... and alot better for my health...so 1x1000w&1x600w ... or 3x600w....what do you think would be best for yield??? and thanks again Squid you seem to answer all my Questions man.:five: HI FIVE!!!:roflcry:

My 2 cents on the topic.

LEDs taught me alot about growing and understanding my plant's wants as well as needs. And I would not trade my LED panels for the world...However, I also own a 400 W HPS/MH system, and I have a greater appreciation for that set up based on my experience with the cheaper LED set up I have.

CFL, LED, or HPS/MH...your situation will always appear to be simple to some, but a complete kunundrum to others. If you have the space, the budget, and the commitment, I say get the HPS's and don't look back. In my humble experience, the LEDs are what's "Sexy" right now. If you have the money to spare, then HPS/MH is the way to go.

Again, I'm not knocking anyone that's getting their hands dirty and doing the work, LEDs or otherwise. I am simply of the mindset that quality trumps quantity.
