What do you believe is the best PH to use and does it vary much through the stages? (Is there any way to increase PH with organic items?)

I can't seem to find the information on the forum and as you can imagine knowing would be very helpful, sorry if this is somewhere obvious and i've missed it but everyone seems to have a different opinion on here.

It depends on whether you're using soil or hydroponics (soiless, which could include peat, coco, etc.). Which are you using?

I use 60% ProMix (soiless peat), 20% perlite and 20% Kellogg Patio Plus outdoor potting mix (soil). I do 6.0 in veg and 6.2 in flower.

If I were entirely soil the PH would need to be higher (like 6.4-6.6). If I were entirely soiless, I'd be 5.8-6.2. If hydro, even lower(?).

Regarding organic ph adjustment, I've read about people using lemon juice and baking soda. I think most people grow organic for taste. I doubt PH up/down would affect taste like synthetic are reported to. But, it's not organic if the legal designation is important.

I use Plagron Light mix at 6,5.

casualsmoker, if you describe what you are going to use, you might get just the right answers.

az2000, might be usefull for you, Plagron has very similar ingredients as you use and Plagron instructs that we should use it strictly as soil.

STay as close To 6.5 if anything But Hydro...

Growing Organic Ph Doesnt Bother as Much But u always want ur Water in.As close to6.5 as Possible

Thanks! I've never strayed much higher than my 6.0(v), 6.2(f). It seemed to work well (6.5 ounces from my first auto grow!). But, you're right. I never went above 6.2 in veg, nor 6.3 in flower. I should try that on one plant sometime to see if anything better arises.

I knew when I started at 6.0-6.2 that I was making an educated guess and should revisit the topic someday. I totally forgot until you mentioned what you did. I'm really low % of potting mix, so that might be a reason for me to stay closer to the 5.8-6.0 soilless range instead of the 6.5 soil range. I wander what percentage soil::peat Plagron uses.

Sorry to miss out the most vital part of the question but you guys have been very helpful as always. Going to aim for 6.0-6.5 when i do eventually start, for the time being i'm just researching a lot about AF out of interest. I'll only be doing one or two in a few months maybe but mainly to try a few nice strains rather than dealing with the rubbish that is to offer in the UK.

You will find many many wonderfull AFNers from UK, that has already and will again if you need, explain critical UK factors, especially about water and climate.

Some of them grow such beasts, that I can not believe my eyes. Made in UK seems to work with indoor ganja. And some say that decent outdoor in UK is possible, which was new to me.

Yeah one of the main factors im worried about is climate. If it's 20/4 for example i'm not so sure the 4 hours of darkness would keep the temp high enough but that's another hurdle for another day. I would of said outdoor growing isn't even near viable here but i've been so amazed by some of the indoors on here that i'm not sure what to believe about any of it now haha. Anyways, thanks again for the help and i look forward to starting a journal so you can help some more :xlaugh::grin:
