Hey has anyone ever heard of to much humic and fulvic acid causing hermies?

Any stress in unsecure Auto Flower genetics could cause hermaphrodite off spring?

I don't think so Clix, not directly at least,... but they are acids after all, and too much will FUBAR the pH in a medium! What happened? there's a lengthy list of possible causes, including nothing but damn bad luck,....

So I was growing a photo strain I am very familiar with and then two auto strains from seed stockers. I lost half the auto's to hermies and half of my photos possibly more lol about 7 plants so far. The photo strain was showing some leave deformities I wasn't used to but other then that these were the best looking plants I have had in a few grows. Until recently having some issues (underfeeding) I was using a new product a,new grow tent, new lighting system and a new humidifier. The product is ancient earth by advanced nutrients. It aided in keeping my ph bang on 5.7 to 5.9. When I would administer it when they were young the leaves would taco for a couple days (Some sort of stress). I reduced the amount given at each feed and this seemed to eliminate the problem. The product is just humic and folic acid. and is 0-0-1. I have checked for light leaks but I am going to check again just in case I some how missed something. The humidifier has an antibacterial additive I put in in it to stop algae growth and such on the wick. mars hydro tent and the new lighting system is cmh. I have had the same photo strain hermie before but this was under some pretty extreme conditions. This time nothing really other then the under feeding but that was once the herms had already showed up. I'm pretty damn confused lol

(add on info) Oh other things I noticed with the photo strains was plants seem to grow different in the sense much tighter internodes, leave deformities, delayed maturation. In general they looked like the plants I'm used to growing but different lol If that makes sense. The autos grew perfectly and it floored me when the hermed. I should mentioned i had flipped to flower about two weeks ago.

So I have completely ruled out the possibility of light leaks. So stress it is lol or just really shit luck lol

wait, whaaat?? The SeedStocker auto's hermied, and the photo's too? Given all the variables here, especially with the env. parameters with the new set-up, nutes, it's the only common link between them all,... if that other photo has hermied before that's one thing, but the auto's too, fine genetics no less,... either a weird coincidence or the stress triggered this response,... doesn't seem extreme enough to do it though..? Oh, what strains are we talking about here, all of them? and was it nanners, or full on male flowers at the stem bases?

Ya there deff didn't seem to be enough stress to cause herms that's for sure it caught me quite of guard when I found them lol The strains were Seed Stockers ak420 and white widow (Auto's) and photo was DNA genetics skywalker kush. They were full male flowers at the base. I have not seen any nanners yet. Keeping a look out though. The auto's especially looked amazing prior to this happening. It was some of my best work lol I have had mold the last two grows prior to this so it's been like this :wall: :dammit: the last few days haha

Stress can come from the strangest places.
Are you using anything that could contaminate the air? Like Ozium to mask the flower smell?

From Wikipedia
A plug-in air freshener contained more than 20 different volatile organic compounds, with more than one-third classified as toxic or hazardous under federal laws. Even air fresheners called "organic," "green," or with "essential oils" emitted hazardous chemicals, including carcinogens.

No but my humidifier uses a antibacterial additive to the water that keeps the wick from developing algae. It has a bunch of chems in it including types of ammonium chlorides. The dilution rate is very high so any trace amounts that found their way in to the air would be minimal. I haven't ruled it out though lol.

I think that's ok, but personally, I'd stop using the additive and give the box a quick wipe with clorox and a good clean wipe after about once a week instead. I'm a little paranoid about contaminates since I killed my kids painted turtle. lol
