- Dabs of Rosin.
I know my way around the kitchen. I have made most types of cannabis edibles from cookies, cakes, candies and chocolates using ground herb, canna butters and oils, tinctures and most recently rosin. 50 years ago my brother and I baked up a batch of "Golden" brownies and got the whole staff - bosses included totally wasted. It was a gas! I suppose you could end up in real trouble for doing that now? Anyhow the point is I know a thing or two about the subject and here are some basic rules. If you want to get high (not everyone does) from ingesting cannabis you must decarb it first. Lecithin will help the desired chemicals pass the blood brain barrier. Thats it simple right! Well no.
Let's start with this work done by some Russian scientists:
As you can see from the chart we can decarb in 7 minutes @ 293° but it will taste totally burnt no matter what it is used in. Ideally we would use 252° for 27 minutes but frankly this still tastes too toasty for me with dry herb but it is perfect for rosin. For dry herb try 240° for 30 minutes (I still don't like it that is why I try new methods) this is what I use when decarbing herb.
Time and temperature are key here. Time is easy temperature not so much. For dry herb work in small batches so the heat can reach all of the herb evenly. Use a pizza stone or pyrex chafing dish that is preheated. Put your herb in a Turkey Roasting Bag and place in the oven on the preheated stone. Use a reliable temperature probe and time it. Now your herb can be added to your favorite recipe.
For butter, oil and warm tinctures I bought a Magical Butter II machine a few years ago now and I like it a lot. I wash my butters once. I think things settle out better in coconut oil and olive oil so they don't get washed. I prefer cold extract tincture so I don't make that in the MBM.
Don't forget to add the Lecithin. I use Liquid Sunflower Lecithin as I consider it to be a good source. There is some negative research out about consuming lecithin so look it up and decide for yourself. Personally I don't think it is as bad as the air I have to breath some days.
Go look at my Rosin Press Thread for a complete video on how to make a medicated chocolate bar with rosin that will knock your sox off.
I probably missed a ton of stuff but I have been eatin that chocolate
