So i have been a closet extractor for some years now.

My process is pretty similar to most here. I do purge in oven though.

Im not saying my practices are safe or even better or good. Just what works for me.

Typically after i blast. I let it sit on my ol ladies heating pad til all the big bubbles pop and its not going to blow up. Then i purge in my oven on lowest setting. For me thats 170f.

Depending on how much i blasted affects purge time.
I do almost always end up with a crumble or a butter/wax consistency. Rarely rarely shatter. I like it that way. I have lost so much shatter to breaking pieces flying lol.

I have recently done my biggest blast. Had a mite infestation :( so i took down my skink girls and hashed them out. Pulled 35 grams of wax. Been purging for hours here and there. Can't seem to get it clean.
Its close.

Ill post pics of the skunk wax when i get off.
Here are some pics of my stilton and northern cheese haze wax. Final products.

@Ash-a-Ton beyond safety reasons, which I think sometimes can be a bit overstated (but for okay reasons) -I wouldn't purge in oven because air flow might be one of the things contributing to how long it's taking to purge. If the air inside the oven isn't being exchanged, this will definitely slow down the evaporation of solvent (partial pressures and all that)
If you're curious: https://ch301.cm.utexas.edu/section2.php?target=imfs/liquids/vapor-pressure.html

Makes sense. With out a vac chamber. How would you reccomend? Its pretty clean now. But i think it might have very small amounts of tane still. How would you finish it off to be safe
The small bubbles are from a warm whip. Not gas diffusing

Its solid with a shiny glassy top

Lookin good! I would just have low heat like 120F ish from a pad or something and cover it with something that doesn't seal (I use a humidity dome top, which has the little vents and such) just to keep out dust and crap. The heat is really just to fight to endothermal piece of tane evaporation (needs heat to evap) which slow down the purge and to help break those IMF mentioned in the link. Beyond the first day I don't see really any bubbles and I never whip. I heat purge for 72 hours with a seedling pad -super clean

Also, if you're going to blast large batches PTFE paper might be worth it for you, just pop the puppy in the freezer after purge and sort of pop it out onto parchment or a silicone mat. I reuse the paper 4 times before tossing (scraping is pretty easy too just make sure you use plastic like a putty knife or plastic razor)

Typically its only a 1 or 2 oz trim/bud run. This was an emergency harvest. (Mites)
Had to chop n dry and extract. To get rid of mites. 2 plants. Id guess 1/2 lb.
So 1st really large extract.
I have plenty of 190 proof eth. Would you winterize and do it that way? Or just keep on the low slow purge with heat

With your shatter? I wouldn't bother, butane is a way better solvent for extractions -no need unless your filter has really really large pores. Every time you add another step you lose more to "slop" and returns are already so low that I would almost never

Hey @Ash-a-Ton,

If you put some honey crumble on parchment and quick press it with a hair straightener does it shatter?

Not sure? Lol. I have had really really bad results and burns with a straightener. I dont press rosin lol. It's dangerous lol i kid.

Just like a quick press not like for rosin, I use it when I'm too lazy to use my thumbs to spread shatter -it gets that glossy look to it when it cools. Just curious if heat can get your stuff to shatter up
