hello,

I'm fryge, I live in the netherlands and studying plant sciences.
I'm not growing auto's nor have I ever grown an autoflower(except one male that popped up in my breeding project that may have been autoflower, started throwing out flowers at the 4th node already and continueed going into full flower instead of just throwing out a few preflowers). but I think there's some good information to be found here, and autoflower or not, it's the same plant.
I have been growing since I was 14-15(although with a few years in between with no plants), and 3 years ago I started a breeding project for fun.
my goal is to create a strain with webbed leaves(from ducksfoot) that flowers and finishes early enough outdoor, is moldresistant, has strong vigour, does well with lower nutrientlevels(basically, all traits that would do well on guerilla, ideal would be that I can just plant it out without upgrading the soil and it can compete with surrounding vegetation and pests on it's own), with a sativa high(especially interested in something like nepalese hash, something good for focussing but also just social hanging out, I'm also ok with paranoia/raciness, but definitely not couchlock) and a unique smell/taste(I get bored with that typical taste all coffeeshop-weed has).
but that's still a long way to go, I'm only growing the f2's this year, so I'll have to see how close I can get to my desired outcome with these plants.
meanwhile I'm also developing new skills this year, this year I'm taking clones for the first time and experimenting what works best for me, already have 2 succesfull clones growing, but also a few failed. and I'm also going to make STS to self some plants this year. also I'm developing my guerilla-skills this year, never did a serious guerilla before, all previous grows where in my backyard or balcony.

hi and welcome :pass:
just a simple cupboard grower here, lots of science curfuddles me but is interesting at same time.also like sativas but auto only i grow.tried photo outdoors but big fat fails.
have a look around,if you get stuck pop into live stoners.
good luck.

I think @pop22 does some breading with ducksfoot he is a whole library of knowledge. Welcome

The root of the few Ducksfoot strains, ( which are already hybrids by the way ), is Ducksfoot, a native Australian landrace. I can't prove it but I believe from its characteristics, I have a true landrace female. I also have a Wally Duck hybrid, that's what most people call Ducksfoot.

My possible landrace Ducksfoot is Sativa. It has a nice up high, good for when you got work to do, you get in the groove and forget your high. Tastes like coffee and ferns, smell is similar. I've not grown a female of the Wally duck yet, I'll know more when I chop the one in my greenhouse, probably around Oct.1

bey bro welcome to afn. i like to see guys with a battle plan. youve gotta have goals and your definately in the right place to achieve them. anything you need while your here just ask and we'll do our best to help you out. you can tag anyone like this @EvilScotsman. we'll always be happy to help. theres a breeders section near the bottom of the forums aswell. probably a good place for you to pop into aswell : ) happy growing amigo

interesting, what's the story behind that landrace?

my source for the webbed leaf is the ducksfoot from underground seeds collective, which I think came from wally, so I'm guessing that would be the wally duck hybrid you're speaking of? the smell of the weed(after curing) reminded me of elderblossom, although my nose is not so reliable.

I've seen hawaii also mentioned as origin of the webbed leaf trait, but I also found some info about a hemp-strain from italy which carries the trait.

I've first crossed the ducksfoot with a mix of early outdoor strains, and crossed a webbed male from that hybrid with kumaoni. currently growing webbed plants from that new cross, and seeing some interesting new leafshapes(the hybrid with early strains looks very similar to the original ducksfoot, just varies a bit in how far along the fingers the webbing goes)

As far as I can tell, the Hawaiian version is a myth, have not seen one shred of evidence on it. As to the landrace, I'm working with some people in hopes of getting photos of some in the wild. I've been working for a year now, hunting down information and its not easy to come by! Wally himself never was very forthcoming on the origins of the ducksfoot he used. If I had the money, I'd get mine genetically tested.

Welcome to AFN! This all sounds bad ass! Lol.. I'm subbed up and along for the ride! Thanks for sharing for journey with us!
