Grow Mediums Hi guys anyone here tried the Smartpot XL Autopots?

I personally would not advise to you the XL pots. They won't work how you think.

Are you asking about using the Smartpot fabric bags in the autopot system or the large 25L autopot? I'm using the standard 15L autopots with the airdomes.

Still debating wether I should get this or the alien easyfeed system which has a filter cus I have been reading a lot of threads and journals and apparantly autopots clog a lot and need to be cleaned..... which defeats the purpose of the system since that sounds like a hassle. apparantly the alien easyfeed system fixed most of the problems autopots have.

The autopot res does have a small filter but also adding DripClean or Hydroguard to the res helps manage any buildup in the lines. Some also build a spare tubing harness they can just switch out. Here is a pic of a single 15L autopot that filled a 4x4 tent. I believe @briman has/is using a XL autopot in his grows so he might be able to answer that better.

Can I use the hydro guard and clean drip at the same time? Or do they have the same stuff in them and it would be a waste of money?

my main concern is if the system clogs and im out of town and it floods out the tent etc.... many people get caught growing that way..... or a fire or worst can happen.,...

Mariano, hello, yes, the air domes work with the autopot XL's! Hope you have a 4 x 4 tent or bigger, as the XL system grows some HUGE ass plants! I use drip clean from House and Garden and have NEVER had a clog problem with the 1/4" lines. You just need to be proactive and clean the system and tubes with a bleach solution shortly after you chop your plants down. I grow in several types of systems, autopots, air pots, autopots with the 15l 2-4 pot system, autopot XL's and when I feel the need to grow huge plants, the XL's do a fantastic job. Your money, get what you really think you will be happy with, but I am very happy with my autopots and wouldn't touch a dwc or rdwc system. I have ran them, but I tossed them in the garage and the autopots are my 'goto" grow method most of the time.

They are pretty much the same but I'd recommend using Drip Clean as what briman also suggests. Here is a pic of my 15L autopot/airdome setup in a 4x4 tent.

drip clean is the stuff to use!

I am planing on getting a 5 x 5 with 6 quantum board at 900 watts, plus the 2 pot smartpot xl system. Do the airdomes work with the fabric smartpots though?

Another question in regards to drip clean does it have beneficial bacteria like hydroguard? Becuase I was planning on adding hydroguard to prevent root rot.... plus i think there are insect here and was thinking of getting sm-90 as well but if one product does all 3 less would be cheaper so thats good.
