Grow Mediums How does everyone cool their reservoirs or buckets ???

Hey pal what lights are u using if i may ask?

Somebody told me you can't pump nutrient solution through the chiller.

The Hailea chillers use a titanium heat exchanger so there is no risk of the nutes or anything else in the water causing problems :)

Pop22 is correct you will waste water if you use an open system and tap water. You might be better off buying a small aquarium chiller rather than building a closed system because of the complexity and cost. I'm with Bilbo if you want simple & affordable. You can insulate the frozen water bottles if you are afraid of ice against the roots. I've read somewhere on AFN of someone using a cooler as a res.

I use to put frozen 2 liter bottles in my res, kept the res temp between 65-70 I used 1- 2 a day That was for a 22 gallon ( 83 liter ) res. It never affected the growth that I could see, and I got 6 oz dry from one auto White Widow

Insulation would extend that quite a lot.

What heisenbud said. That's what us non millionaires who don't have a chiller do. Works great. A lot of guys are making their res out of like a coleman coolers. Keeps the cold in ALOT longer.

I'm getting a new GT205 tank so I'm wrapping a layer of duct tape round it, lining the old base tank with plastic insulation sheet and dropping the new tank into it so I'll have a double skinned, insulated tank. Hopefully it'll help quite a bit to keep the water at a more stable temperature.

If your putting a tote in a larger tote, etc, packing peanuts are GREAT insulation and cheap! some places will give them to you I put a 2.5 gallon buck in a box and fill the box with packing peanuts. In a 73 degree (F) room, it took almost 24 hours to raise the res temp from 60F to 70F.
