Lighting How high should I hang a 1200 watt COB

i'm very inexperienced, but why not place a thermometer in the light and see how hot it gets. The heat is the reason for the height of the light, right? So if the light makes the thermometer hot, it's too close. right?

If you are wondering about light spread and photons/lumens per x, you can make a light meter for a couple bucks in a couple of minutes.

Wrong article, but a very smart article. http://www.reddit.com/r/HandsOnComplexity/comments/17ny46/plant_lighting_intensity/

That's a short article about making a by a really super smart guy who backs all his claims up with citations. I have not built one yet, but soon I will (as soon as I find a photo cell on the ground some place)

Peace and love
