Hi everyone. I've done two grows before only using autos. My first was BAM and AWW, my second was Think Different and Critical Cheese (i think!). The first time I crammed like 9 plants into my 1.2 x 1.2m tent and got a fairly good yield. The second grow I did 6 plants and had similar results using the same tent with bigger pots and a little LST.

I was thinking of growing Moby Dick XXl this time round but only using 4 plants in the same space. Would LST allow me to have the same harvest with less plants? Where I live, the LE value your crop based on the number of plants, so I would be safer with just 4. Also, the bedroom my tent occupies is TINY and removing 4 large plants to gain access to the girls at the back is rather difficult without breaking stems. Having 4 would hopefully make access a little easier as I would only need to move one out of the way.

I only do one grow per year so final weight and potency is my number 1 concern!

Hi Sean

I've asked myself the same question using a much small space (half the size of yours) I would initially try and cram in 4 plants and watering and access was a royal pain in the bum.

I swapped to 2 bigger pots and life is much easier, I would say yieldwise i gain more per plant when there's just two in there and the over yeild is a bit bigger. I don't do lots of serious LST, becuase the space is still quite small and tricky to work around.

I think giving them more space to grow and taking all the light between the 4 of them (rather than 9 or 6) will benefit them greatly. It will also help with the airflow and in turn, decrease the chances of mold (due to better air flow) and allow you to keep a closer eye on each plant - and make it easier to give each one what it needs if you want to go to that level. (rather than mixing up a feed for the whole lot .... which is what i do .. but not the best method :) )

As for moby dick, i've not grown the strain and don't know much about it, but think i may have seen a few journals on AFN. Try typing Moby Dick into the search bar and clicking titles only and see what comes up!

I'd also recommend looking at Dutch Passion AutoUltimate if you liked the Think different - it's another big plant from what i've seen!

For potency i see people raving about Mephisto Auto strains on here, I'm looking forward to trying some of their stuff, and for taste and something a bit different, i like growing Sweet Seeds varieties .. they live up to their name 'sweet' :)

Choices Choices - the hardest thing.

Hope my ramblings helped! :)

Thanks for the reply blue.

There aren't many journals online for the moby dick but the ones I have read were impressive!

I only had two TD and they didn't work for me at all. The smoke was average and the buds were were fairly airy. I'm not sure if it was my setup or bad luck but they just weren't for me!! I didn't even like the taste or smell to be honest. Different tokes for different folks and all that

I think I may have grown an AutoUltimate last year but can't be sure. I had a diary encrypted on my laptop but lost it and can't remember for sure which strains I grew now. Typical stoner problems

I'll check out those Mephisto strains...had not heard of them before. I will only be growing one strain at a time as I use my tent for drying as well so need all my plants to finish together. It gets rather messy having to dry buds while others are still finishing! The only problem I can see with growing only four, if I break or lose one to disease, thats 1/4 of my years supply :yoinks:

Yeah, nightmare scenario! I've never had a diseased plant, but could be lucky!

As for the taste .. I've not tried TD, but i've only heard good things about the smoke. I can say for some time (maybe a couple of years lol) i was not cleansing the plant properly the last week or two (cleansing = just plain water feeding - no ph ..no nothing) and i suspect i wasn't giving them enough time to dry. They never tasted "quite" right - although did the job.

since i've been doing that, my smoke tastes like it should (or like you'd buy it from a shop...in amsterdam or a legal place)

Just throwing my experience out there, incase there's a simple step you may have overlooked (not saying you have lol)

:vibe:

I think I have my setup sorted now (more or less). I rarely had anything to do with my last grow until harvest.

Now that I think of it, I'm pretty sure it was all AutoUltimate I grew and it was in fact my third attempt. Finishing all the plants together and using the tent solely for drying was a major improvement and the buds were as good as any I have bought.

Those Mephisto strains look very tempting, especially the Fantasmo Express. I'll do some more research and might go with those in the end. I need to get started soon so I can relax in comfort for xmas. My last batch ran out this week so my enthusiasm is building by the day lol

I started a moby dick non xxl today so when she pops I'll be keeping up to date on it :) I have a grow log going right now for a couple other plants that I'm growing sour crack cross

Not sure how you grow but I'm doing just a basic soil with sea grow nutes the 16-16-16 and the 4-26-26

I use Plagron light mix soil and Plagron nutes. I always seem to get a little N toxicity in the veg phase. Last time I didn't add any nutes until like the 4th or 5th week and still had problems using only 1/4 strength. I think my local store has different soils in stock now so I may try a different brand this time. Although I think Tang uses the light mix as well and doesn't seem to have any trouble.

Is the Sour Crack from Mephisto too? I'm quite excited about trying their strains. Reviews seem good

I got it from another member that said it was a sour crack cross his screen name was something hempy?
