Extraction How much everclear

151 proof is not good enough, because it contains a lot of water (almost 25%) that inhibits the alcohol's dissolving of cannabinoids, and is hard to get rid of.
I've never used 151 proof, and plead ignorance about how to do it.
There are websites that will ship food grade 190 proof "culinary solvent" that's really ethanol.
Another alternative is to use a Green Oil Machine clone to distill the 151 proof up to 190 proof.
So, are you saying my everclear that's 151 proof isn't going to work? That's the highest i found in the store.

Personally, I wouldn't use 151 proof for tincture, but some people do, but I have no experience with it.
Instead, I'd just make whole herb edibles:
(1) Decarb @ 240 F for 40 min
(2) Grind to fine powder
(3) Mix into the recipe oil of any cookie, muffin, or brownie mix.
(3) Bake and eat. Each gram herb used will supply about 150 mg thc to an edible.
I make min-muffin sized brownies, muffins, and cookies because they can be baked for less time, and heat does reduce potency.
Chewing edibles does cause some sublingual absorption, so there are small tincture effects too.

Mixing decarbed herb powder into nut butter or nutella also produces a quick potent edible.

It will work @Mcdee there is more water in 151 and even more in 80 proof vodka, but they all will work.
I like to use longer soaks and/or a second wash with the lower proof alcohols.
:tonic:

I wanted 190 but didn't have anything high.

If I leave it in the freezer for a few months do you think I will need to do 2nd wash?

The reason for putting it in the freezer and doing a quick wash is to avoid extracting chlorophyll and waxes. It also helps the trichomes break off.
Anytime I do a quick wash, I automatically do a 2nd soak (not quick wash) because I know there are still goodies in there.

I not sure what a quick wash is lol. 1st attempt at this. I decarbed, ground, and put in jar with everclear and is in my freezer at -23°f as I type this. Was i suppose to strain right away, then put back in more everclear? What is a quick wash?

151 is all we can get in some parts. I have had friends bring me ethanol, but usually I have to use 151 rum.
It works fine and is a lot easier under the tongue than 190.

Luckily I made a large batch, the company that made the 151 white rum discontinued it, and now all we can get is dark.

It is a very fast extraction using frozen bud and ultra cold alcohol. If you are making oil, it gets the cleanest dab or whatever, but you get more bang for your buck with a longer soak.

Chlorophyll isn't as much of an issue in tincture as it is with hash, especially of you start with cured bud.

I have done a quick one just to get terpines and flavinoids. Then a longer decarbed one for potency. Then boiled down the longer one and combined that with the quick one for a final potent and tasty product.
