Can someone remind me how much I need to flush through coco? Is it 1gal per gal of coco, so 3gal pot would be 3gal of water? Want to make sure I run enough through. Thanks in advance.
in my opinion the most precise way is to measure the runoff with EC ja pH meter. Test pH and EC in and pH and EC out of the pot (measure water pH and EC before and after flushing). The difference of initial water parameters and runoff will tell you the story.
The way I've always flushed is similar to @forestly....if you are growing in a 10 litre pot...give the pot 3X the amount I.e 30 litres, then I flush them each night with the same amount of litres you would use to feed them.
And use an ec pen to check what your runoff is.you shouldn't need to use a ph pen,I've never flushed with ph'ed water, just water straight out the tap...adding ph down when flushing will cause your ec to rise again.
Yeah that was what I wanted just a recommend amount and go from there. Takes awhile to fill my 14 - 1 gallon Sunny D containers. I also gave them 2 feedings of flawless finish to start the process of pulling from the plants. Flushed 2gal each yesterday, 1.5 gallons today. Wanted to chop Monday. May do a gallon each tomorrow if I can. Run off looks pretty much clear gonna test it later today.
I've never bothered with phing water to flush with, there's no point, they are going to die very soon lol.if you were still growing the plant, then ph yes,but why would you want to add more chemicals that will make your ec rise again??
I use RO water and it takes ca 3-6 drops of pH down to get it to my sweetspot 5.8. But in that case my EC stays the same.. 0.0. Maybe on ppm level it will show but those changes are pretty minute. But all in all @Lizardking is right - no need for additional minerals in flushing phase. So you can go always organic - use lemon juice to drop the EC without adding any minerals
