So I have seen multiple grows that were started in a small pot/cup and later were tiered into a bigger pot. What is the proper method for doing this? I assume you cut away the bottom of the small pot, dig a hole in the big pot that will hold the small pot and place it in the hole. Is it also necessary to unravel the roots before transplanting?

Hopefully you want have to mess with the roots.
When I' done it I remove bottom right above
hole it will sit in and ease it down.

I can't stress enough if your using the tier method to use nothing smaller then 32oz cups........and I would not mess with the roots at all...what ill do is get a same size cup your tiering fill the pot it's going into tset the cup in at the level you want it fill in around the empty cup pull it out. You now have a perfect size hole to put your cup in, cut off the bottom drop it in the hole and vaula your done sorry I don't have pictures at this time I quit tiering as I get a better out come going direct to final pot. I just put to or three reg seed to ensure the chance of getting a female. If you have fem seed's i would go strait to final pot. As tiering is more for sexing..

For a tier transplant I use 2 party cups-I cut the bottom of one cup about and inch up,place it in the other cup with an intact bottom and fill'er up with soil and plant my bean.About day 14 all you need to do to transplant is gently remove the inner cup(you may have to turn it gently to loosen it)dig a 3"deep hole in the soil in the pot you are transplanting to and set the cupwith the roots hanging out the bottom in the hole and fill in around the cup with soil.Done! and all with little to no root disturbance.

So this method is designed to stop stunting of the plant?

I wouldn't say stop it, but there's a lot less chance of getting stunting..To small a cup will cause stunting also, once the tap root hits a wall it'll stunt them.

If done right it a great way to transplant without
Stressing plant. Roots will move into new pot

Lol GoAuto, your quicker on the keys then me! Also, don't forget to water both the cup and pot at water time-it'll take a while for the roots to spread out and fill their new home so always water the transplant cup to.

:group:Every one join me.

Not mention but good to put a little root powder down too ? Rite or no ??
