How do everyone, been browsing the forum for long enough and I suddenly thought... Why the hell aren't I registered, logged in and posting? Now here I am  I've already found a wealth of knowledge, which is greatly appreciated and hopefully can put a little back in my self.

Last year I did 10 Bio Mass Diesel under a 600w hps in a 1.2m tent, had numerous problems ranging from lights to cold temperatures and they still did rather well. Ended up with 11/12oz in total, was a great smoke and saying they stunk would be an understatement!

A year on and I thankfully have the means of growing again which is a huge bonus as the quality of street always leaves a lot to be desired, the price is rediculous plus it means I can help medically support those close to me. Both me and my partner smoke with the addition of two immediate family members, so it's a pretty costly exercise but as you guys know it's one we just can't live with out! :smoke:

On order I currently have;

2.4 x 1.2 x 2 meter tent
2x 600w HPS lights complete w/ parabolic shades
5" Fan & filter w/ complete ducting - I don't think this is going to be big enough, but I've a friend who's offered to swap his beasty (Believe it's an 8") for this. Hoping to use passive intake to start.
2x Plug and grow timer & contactors
1x Wireless hygrometer
3x Plant magic supreme soil
20x 6.5 litre pots

Now here's the thing, I daren't think of the hours I've spent looking through journals this month stoned to see what people are growing and how they do. The amount of blurbs I've read on breeders websites, I'm still at a loss what strain to grow? I want something that I can ideally yield 2oz per plant from and I can go from seed to weed in around 70 days.

So far I've been attracted to 00 seeds & vision seeds Northern Lights as it's low odour and apparently very easy to grow? However I've seen many diaries where people are going as far as 110 days, this is exactly what I don't want to happen. Sweet seeds seem to get real love where ever I look, they're a little more money however I'm more than happy to pay the extra.

Anyway I'll stop rambling on, I intended it to be short and sweet but as I've finished this Doob I've realised it's turned into a bit of an essay! :slaps: Any help and recommendations you guys could give would be a huge help, as well as greatly appreciated and I just can't wait to get started. "pher Wiggle"

Happy blazing & safe growing .

Welcome to AFN Matti and good luck on your grow.
There's a lot of choice on seeds and you have to be carefull which to choose when it comes to harvesting times and allways be sure to read the description of the given strain well. On general the Indica dominant crosses are done faster (8 to 9 weeks on general) than the sativa dominant crosses (10 to 11 weeks). In reality to get the best smoke you'll ussually have to let the plant go one or two weeks longer than the time advertised by the breeder. Also keep in mind that the most potent strains are also the ones that take the longest untill harvest.
Choices in strains and breeders are really overwelming and in the end for me it came down to just going for a breeder that I knew had a good rep and choose some strains I liked from their stock and just started. I know Sweet Seeds gets much credit, but haven't grown them myself. Don't really know about the other two.
Cheers :tiphat:

Hey dude, thanks for the warm welcome and the insightful post! While I try and make sure I do my best to take in all the information the breeders blurb has to offer, I don't take it as gospel as I think breeders have a duty to make their strain seem as appealling as possible hence why I try to see how people get on with their grows and what their out come is.

It is such a huge decision! It's one I think I'm going to have to just say 'Fuck it *click* I've bought them now, they're the ones I'm having' but it really has been the most difficult part. While quality is important, what I have to remember is what ever I grow is going to be better than a great majority of the street weed available, I just want to give my self the best possible chance to yield a good amount. I'm not expecting to just come in and start pulling unbelievable numbers as I know it doesn't work like that, but I think getting the right strain will give me the best possible chance.

Thanks again for the warm welcome man!

Hey Matti, you'll find a LOT of Sweet Seeds fans here and for good reason, I've grown a Dark Devil and a Sweet Special from them and both are top notch. The new hotness is Mephisto Genetics. They have a sub forum here...
Might be the frostiest buds on the planet. :) Go check out some grows :)

Welcome!

Matti, welcome to the show. As the fellows have said, and you have realized, this is a great site for gaining knowledge, and researching all aspects of growing. My take on the strain issue is this. I have been out of the weed scene for 30+ years. I have no practical knowledge of any of the current strains available, and the shear number of different strains available is mind boggling. I quickly realized several things. There is no universal/standard rating system for weed. Most of the strains effect and duration of effect is subjective from person to person. And while I believe that reading grow journals and smoke reports is a great way to research a strain, I personally can't make a decision with just that info. Hell I typically want every strain I read a review on. I think that first hand experience is the only way to know which strains are best for you medically or otherwise. I have recently purchased several high CBD strains for use as medicine for my wifes cancer. I have also been on a seed acquisition for a bunch of other strains for fun.

Hello mattie,

so many strains and only one life. What a choice. Good luck with whatever you choose.

eP.

Welcome to the biggest problem with growing - choosing a strain. Really, it is probably the most stressful for a lot of people.

But you know what? IF you choose the wrong one, you get a new start in only 10-12 weeks or less! And they grow so fast, you see them grow every day. They are addictive man.

You have heard Sweet Seeds mentioned and I have a few grows of those and like them a lot. I done a lot of others and liked most of them. I bet there has only been one or two that I have grown out of 10 strains at least that I didn't care for. (The smoke that is). I now have a run going of the Mephisto strains and am very excited about them. It could be the excitement of others excellent grows but these girls are some of the fastest (especially the Fantisimio) I have grown. They are definitely sporting the largest diameter trunks I have grown. (additional self censored).

So what I'm saying is don't worry about it. Order something that makes your mouth water and you will be fine.

I agree with BIW. I always gravitate toward the odd or different in all my horticultural adventures. Hence the "Red Family" seeds from Sweet and the blueberry and bubblegum. If it sounds interesting, grow it and see. As BIW also stated, if it turns out that its not the one for you, grow something different. The great thing about weed is if you screw up (short of killing the plants), guess what, you get weed. What other hobby has such a great penalty prize?

Pick, click, grow!!!!! It's as easy as 1,2,3. You just gotta do it!!!!
