Live Stoner Chat HOWDY FROM OREGON

Yeah Redneck. Four. Gadz.... But you know, if I had four plants that could go from seed to done in 70 days, I could plant one seed every 2 1/2 weeks, and pull off a constant harvest act. That'd be enough to keep little ol' me in smoke. It sure wouldn't be a cash crop, but it would keep me in herb, and that's all I really want. I'm happy enough with my nose in a book and my pipe in hand. Toke on.:pass:
That, Brother , is the light so few see!:bighug: One seed at a time. :d5:

what up @Nuggz! I'm from oregon too, this is my first grow though. On same train of thought with the 4 autos bein the best way to go with the new laws. pretty stoked, so far growin' outdoors been pretty fun...i got a little bit of a head start.

have you decided what strains you're gonna do? again — my first grow, so what the hell do i know — but so far i've had pretty good luck with fast buds and mephisto genetics i've got goin' on right now. being first grow, i fumbled the mephisto seed a little bit at the start, but its crazy how quickly/well its been bouncing back. plus the dude mitch there is super rad and gave me some good tips that lead her back on a good path. same deal with the dudes at fast buds, have been super chill to deal with. from what i can tell lurkin the forum here, if you order direct from either of those two the bonus seeds are more/better that what you get from the banks [I unfortunately didn't discover this forum/that info until after I ordered, but next time!].

Welcome to the site Nuggz, im sure you will love it.

Growing for yourself is the only way to go, money not going into the hands of dealers etc and the knowledge that you know exactly where your bud has come from cannot be beat.

Looking forward to seeing your journal

Hey hey Red! How's it going? First grow for you, huh? It sounds like you're having fun with it. But my dear, the grow ain't done yet, and it's gettin' HOT out there. That probably means you will have a run in with the nastiest little beastie on 8 legs. You ain't grown until you've had to do battle with freakin' SPIDER MITES! Just be prepared for it.

Last week I copied a full 148 pages of notes on how to get rid of them and keep them away. Everybody says Neem oil, but frankly I've never developed a palette for the taste of that stuff on my bud. In my wanderings looking for the ultimate answer, I saw a comment elsewhere that consisted of just seven little words...

"Coca-Cola. It works like a charm every time..." (The dude sounded soooooo certain.)

I'm gonna try it and I'm passing it on. If coke can eat the enamel off your teeth, chances are it could dissolve the exo-skeletons of mites. And if my bud has to be sprayed with something, I'd much rather it tasted of coke than neem oil.

But Red, take a tip from the voice of experience. Be prepared for mites BEFORE you ever see em. :gary:
Then kill the little %$#@s.

thanks for the advice @Nuggz — def gonna be curious to see if coca-cola works. the logic with the tooth enamel certainly makes sense. i've got neem on hand, and have also been releasing lady bugs into the garden every week or so which has been helping the vegetables a lot with any pests. i'm eyeing some green lacewing eggs online too, and after hearing what you said might just pull the trigger and get 'em goin sooner than later.

If you are going to release them, make sure there are already some bugs in your garden or the lady bugs and lacewings will just fly away. I like predatory bugs. I had a garden a few years back that became the home of a few strayed praying mantis. They scared the crap out of me the first time I ran into one, but by the end of the season, we'd become pals. They eat a lot of bugs. Good critters...

Welcome, Nuggz! Another Oregonian here. I'd say I'm waiting for my first grow as well, but uh...I kinda got antsy and started last week. One last ten day stretch of paranoia to help celebrate the coming change, right?

Well, I got a bit of a head start with a single plant, and since I could obscure it and live on a 5th floor, I have a little balcony grow. No worries in PDX.

HI Nuggz

Welcome to the forums here at AFN

wow what a great intro and you said you wanted to make friends, seems like your of to a flying start :D

My two 2 pence (UK money lol) on the smoking on the 1st July but can't buy it before 1st October goes like this - Weed that you already have suddenly becomes legal the day it comes into effect, no ones asking any questions.

However to buy weed produced in the state they have worked on 12 week growing period, so any weed sold before that time grown in state would have been technically been part of an illegal grow.

So to cover themselves legally there is this 3 month discrepancy in smoke date and buy date.

Save them pennies, LEDs rock and once you've made the investment they should last for years.

Coca-cola to kill the Borg, interesting ideal and I would love to hear some follow up feed back/or a link to the place where you read it.

Now is as good as any time to start a journal , so we can follow along with your girls progress.

Seeing as you have a goodly amount of growing experience in the past best place to start would be in the Indoor growers section, unless you feel you need more advice on growing autos.

I'll give you a link to the Indoor section and also the new growers section just in case you decide to post there.

Indoor Growing - New Growers just click the links and go straight there.

lots of nice pics please we love a lovely canna pin up :D

Great to have you with us and hopefully you'll make AFN your home :)

have a great grow and I look forward to your journal

The info given above is not quite correct in Oregon. It becomes legal to smoke in private, to grow up to four plants per household and to carry up to an ounce. It is also legal to give away marijuana but not to sell it as of July first. But stores will not open any time soon. Applications for stores will not be accepted by the state until January 4, 2016, and then there will be an approval process that will take about 6 months. Don't expect any stores to open until the fall of 2016. Of course the legislature can change these rules and perhaps they will allow current medical dispenseries to sell recreational marijuana before then, but right now it remains unclear what the lawmakers will do.
