So I have my plants under t5 h.o. lights right now running 24/0 for veg. I was thinking about putting them under a 600 watt hps when they begin to flower. Just wondering what kind of a lighting schedule I should use for when they flower under the hps. I really dont want to have to run my hps for 20-24 strait if possible. Was wondering is 12/12 would work or if the autoflowers will need more light than that.

Well I the lowest ratio I ever go is 18/6. You could probably get away with 14/8

best yield for auto's is 420!!! No joke, 20 on, 4 off. Been talked and debated here many times and the data suggests for optimum yield is the above light schedule.

i run 20/4 i think u should atleast give them 18 hours of light :Sharing One:

If your concern is the cost of running your HPS for 20 hours a day versus 12 hours a day, it's not a whole lot extra. Assuming you pay 11 center per kWh, that extra 8 hours comes out to about $16 a month or about $48 over the entire grow. Around these parts $48 will buy you a quarter oz. The extra light should increase your yield by that much or more. IMO, it's worth it to spend the extra money on electricity for the extra yield.
