Hey guys. I bought a hygrometer but it was way out of whack. Is it essential to have one in the jars when your using bovedas? After drying do you put the packs in jars straight away or would you see what the HR is then put them in as long as it's not too high? Or forget about the hygrometer and just use bovedas. Cheers

If the humidity is too high. Say above 70 then they need another day or so to dry. I fill a jar 3/4 full with bud and stick a hygrometer in as a tester if its close then i stick the bovedas in the jar as well and jar up the rest of the buds.

Dont expect the bovedas to dramatically change humidity though dude. If your buds are about 68 and you put a couple of boveda 62s in there it wont just bring it down to 62.
And dont forget to burp the jars at least once a day for the first couple of weeks after jarring up

Good advise.

@Think , you can either(probably not) calibrate your hygrometer or get a correction factor with the salt in a bag calibration method

Keep in mind that most hygrometers, the ones costing gazillions being not the most, has an accuracy of +/- 5 %.

Okay thanks man. I wouldn't expect the bovedas to do absolutely everything. Might seem like I do but I know where your coming from job bro. Never used them before. Thanks for the help

Thats what mine said it was 5% but I put it in my tent and it was totally off with HR compared to the hygrometer that lives in the tent. I've bought a large mouth jar so I can fit my big hygrometer in so we'll go from there.

Stupid Chinese shit lol

Anytime dude, also boveda sell calibration kits. Its basically a zip bag and a boveda 75 and you put your hygrometer in for 24 hours. I got one from ebay for about £4

How do you know which hygrometer is the most accurate?

Hygrometers are typically factory calibrated at a specific temperature, say 15 or 20 C, and will only be accurate at that temperature for awhile. When calibrating or more likely getting a calibration factor, you should do it at the same temp, as close as possible, as your storage space/room. And calibration/updating the correction factor every 1-2 months is a prudent move......

That's a good question. I dont 100% The temperatures where the same pretty much just the HR was totally different. Well the tent one was 40 and the small one went to 50 and kept rising up to about 56 in the matter of a few mins. I'm just going with the more expensive one. Might dry the salt trick with the big one

Well, if one is 5 % off to one side and the other 5 % off to the other side, suddenly both of them could be accurate within specs. There is no substitute for a calibration, certainly not going by price.
