This! Why cant i mix straight in the rez? I need to know why to understand it. No high tech, but the short version. I listen closely.

Did you ever jump into a swimming pool to soon after the acid was added? It burns like hell! Chemical additions to water are not instantly homogenized they stream around in it for a period of time.

The instructions on all of the nutrients I have used state right on the bottle to start with fresh water.

The reason most nutrient base products come in two bottles is because if mixed together improperly they will bind and lock out the very nutrients you are trying to get into solution. That is the first reason. It may cause unwanted binding with what is already in the reservoir. It can take about 15 minutes for part A of most nutrients to become diluted enough in moving water so that the binding does not happen when adding part B. While you are waiting for dilution these strong salts are attacking your roots. Is it going to kill your plant probably not - I mean look at all of the abuse growers are perpetrating on their girls all the time and their plants don't die. But we are not most growers as we strive to be the best growers.

Thank you, but shouldnt i fallow the ppms? If they raise i lower little, if they fall - i raise... Or should i go after how the girls are doing, and read them and just have the ppms so i know where they are happy?

Yes you may have to lower PPM's in some situations to get your plant to start eating and or drinking again. If your tracking and charting everything you will see a "stall" where water consumption slows and EC starts to rise meaning the plant is actually leaching nutes into the res. You need to either do a rez change or take solution out and lower the ec with PH balanced water. make the solution contain less nutes

Myself thus far I have added part a straight in the back of my pump and it instantly goes to the buckets at 951 gph. I wait 2 minutes and add part b. Then whatever else im using. It is my first dwc but honestly it hasn't affected my grow at all. Heres a couple of my girls. And Rambo u better step it up haha

Girls are growing and both EC and PH is stable. I added some silica yesterday, had a bottle so I tought i could us it. Gave just a little bit, 0.5/ml. Will raise the silica next rez-change.
I honestly think I will do okey, thanks to you guys.

IMHO Dyna-Gro Pro-tekt is the best silica out there.
