Indoor In need of some supply's

You need to look at lumens not the just w, to compare apples and apples. It can be confusing when your talking about efficient lights like cfl's.

I know t5 limens output is 40,000 whats the HPS and MH lumens?

Lumen example was being used when looking at equivalent incandescent vs. cfl bulb and watt rating / vs usage. Not necessarily how well that will grow a plant. I'm trying to explain the electricity consumption of "like" bulbs.

The manufacturer shows based on the bulbs they are including with the package:
400w system
MH =36,000 lumens
HPS=55,000 lumens

i got lots to think about thanks for the info i appreciated.

i have a 400w apollo air cooled hood and on the box the lights came in it mine are

HPS-53,000 lumens.

MH-36,000 lumens.

If you can get around the heat, IMO I have found much greater growth with mh vs t5. But I run them both. My mothers are in a tent with a t5 and they are doing well, I'm not trying to push them to grow super quick either. But explosive growth has been my experience with mh. I think you will find more dense buds from hps vs t5. I'm not trying to shit on t5 but I think you will find you can do better with a traditional mh / hps. or if you have the money buy l.e.d and you can do great with them too. It's alot of personal preference / budget / and grow environment. You can do a great job with a few cfl bulbs. I don't own a LED panel but I think when you consider power consumption, heat etc they are really great.

if i were you i would go led instead of t5! unless you buying t5's for side lighting! its just a personal preference! i love how tight led buds are! tight nod spacing! makes them dense and heavy and sticky as hell! if you ask me the t5 setups are way to expensive for what they are!

Isnt LED more expensive

hey guys i got a big decision to make and just would like some support on which light to use. Keep in mind im a noob and have no experience growing but the research that i've done from AFN.
I want the best light available that will not kill my electric bill or my budget and it also got to be very stealthy. Prefer something that wont produce to much heat cuz then i will need to get a cooling system which will not fit my budget.

T5 bulbs are efficient. Get a mix of 2700k and 6400k color temps. They'll produce the spectrum you need for plant growth, but they're less intense than high intensity discharge lights. They're also considerably less costly. Light emitting diodes are among the most efficient means of producing PAR but they are currently the most expensive option, in terms of dollars per watt.

Honestly the best bang for your buck is either a blackstar 240w which should run you around 300, or if you're brave enough to deal directly with the chinese manufacturer, bsled.com has some pretty good options in the 200w range. You'll have to get a quote and talk shipping with the company, but you'll end up with a cutting edge lamp.
