A few weeks ago i was afraid i had a leak in my ventilation setup, so i start to store the poop from my cat. I bought cheaper sand (without fragancies to neutralize the smell) and store it on big bags.

At the beginning of this month when two plants started flowring the leak did noticed. So i put the bags right in the front of ventilation exhaust tube and hey, no more weed smell. The smell of shit is so strong that i couldn't really smell the weed.

Now i save the bags in the attic in case i need in the future. Before save the bags i talked with a friend and he told me "no way, weed is way strongher!" but hey, the neighbor didn't smell the weed at all. Only shit x)

First person I ever seen use shitty security. Lol just joking brother if it works for you. I wouldn't do it unless like you say it's a emergency smell issue, I would not do it on the regular basis

I do understand you, not pleasant at all! I've a renting house and an good trust with the landlord company, but some people may get a visit by his landlord if he suspicious there's a leak in the bathroom or the neighbor call the landlord warning him because no one answer the door and the smell is really strong. Not for basis of course, only predicted emergency but thanks for mention in case someone get this as a regular odor control technique!!

For me worked like a charm, only 2 days to test if the changes in the tent setup resulted and voila

It's funny...here in legal Oregon, I'm happy when flowering starts because I can't smell the cat box anymore...

I have a few methods for the odd smell emergency.
Essential oils and an electric heatstone, I use the more cullinary oils like Thyme, rosemary etc as it smell more like cooking & mixing them also works well too.
You will periodically need to put some more oil on the stone.

putting a pan on the stove and adding cooking ingredients is also a useful method, get a pan boiling with water and add the following and reduce to a simmer

1. curry spices
2. chopped onion, garlic, bay & worcestershire sauce.
3. cloves, bay leaves , Thyme & oregano.

The above are three different mixes or you can make your own concoction & just simmer on the lowest heat but enough to make you pan let off some nice aromas and top up with water from time to time. Don't leave the pan unattended or left on if you have to leave the house.

Ideally it is best to fix a leak like yours asap a big roll of duct tape is always a usefull item to have at hand for such emergencies, nothing beats a properly sealed Carbon filter->Ducting->Fan combo.

Cooking smells are more likely overlooked by neighbors just don't make it too pungent, I think if I lived somewhere and it honked of cat shit I might raise the issue.

Top marks for thinking out the box/litter tray but Ronin's post about the health aspects does make real sense.
