hey guys, so finally ordered my lights i brought a really good deal from ebay.
x2 130w CFL's one 2700k and an 6400k, also came with a LED panel, i have no idea on LED's so any pro's with the know's could shed a little light on this subject would be good, the specs of the LED are:
225 LEDs = 165 Red + 60 Blue Mix (suitable for all stages)
LED Bulb Diameter: 5mm
Red light wavelength: 650-655 nm
LED Bulbs Power: Power: 13.8W
Voltage: 240V AC
Total Lumens: 1300+
Recommended Coverage: 45cm x 45cm
Size: 30.5cm x 30.5cm x 3cm
I just going to start seedling under it and then mount on the back wall of my grow box for a bit of added red spectrum during those beautiful budding stages? do i have the right idea or is this thing total rubbish?
i got the three lights for $92 AUD and a e40 socket and power cord witch is a good price when CFL's are $40 each. someone shine some light on this baddie for me please hope y'all had a great chrissy guys peace:peace:

It should be a fair supplemental light. I'm guessing they are 1w leds so the panel needs to be close to the plants 1ft or less. Try it with seedlings but being so heavy in the red spectrum I think it's intended as supplemental flowering light. Should work great in combo with the CFLs.

Hey torched, cheers man :d5: if it turns out their more then 1w LEDs does it need to be placed any higher?
would it be better to not use it until flowering? or is it okay to have a little red light during the vegetative state?

a 1W LED can only produce strong enough light for the plant out to about 1 foot. a 3W or 5W LED and you can go up to about 30 inches of but you need to keep them a certain distance away from the plant or you risk bleaching/burning. I have not heard of that happening with 1w LEDs. The red light in veg should be fine as long as you have the CFL's or something in a more blue spectrum going as well.

Okay thanks dude :) i was worried about that bleaching i've got no idea what it is haha but feeling good now, yeah the big CFL should over power that red light, feeling keen now thanks for the support :tiphat:

Nice DEAL..I wouldnt expect much from the led I could be wrong just have to see...contact the seller and ask what watt the LED are..CFL ..the pros say blue is the best for a full grow and that they see better results ..smaller ones seem to be stronger and last longer...should be enough light for 2 or 3 at the most I would think..for a good yield and grow.:pighug:

I would check the build-quality of this led panel!
So you don't set your house on fire!

Cheers Baracuss why didnt i think of that haha :stoneslap: im planing on running two autos at a time with this set up, ill slowly add to it down the track as one would :)

Hahaha thanks green :P what would one look for in a cheaper dodgy LED panel? any clues.

What you look for when buying a serious LED is ..modular..3w LED ..how it removes heat and stays cool.right spectrum for VEG and bloom .good warranty and customer service..Led are great I think you will enjoy growing whatever you decide to use..Growing is so addictive..and the smoke is the best you can get ! Home grown 4eva!

Look around the site ..I think AFN is one of the best places for LED growing..we are on the cutting edge of lighting here..so many to choose from..Look at grows and results and reliability .
