So my seedling has just begun to pop it's little head out of the soil. I'm curious to know if anyone can tell if it looks healthy or not. 2013-03-26_19-54-44_350.jpg

kinda blurry pic but looks ok from what I can see.

I'm just really nervous because this is my first grow, and for me it's hard to tell because I don't know if it's normal for it to be hunched over like that when it first breaks the soil.

it took my sprouts about 24 hours (once i noticed it start to break soil) to completely break soil stand upright and sprout those two little baby leaves.

Yeah one or two of mine were hunched over a bit, and it worked out for me. Im no pro but im sure someone here will correct me if im wrong but you should be fine. Maybe take a clearer picture cant see much.

It's fine and trust me the best thing you can do is leave them alone lol my first grow I got lucky and they messed up the order and I got 20 seeds instead of 10 well thank god because I killed so many where I was so nervous and kept touching them and worrying they didnt look right lol they will be fine dude trust me.

looks fine, bad angle to tell though. sprouts usually come out stem first in a ^ shape dragging the seedcase behind/underneath them kinda, that pulls it off as it rubs off the soil. well thats what i see anyway. once theyre above ground itll probably slow downa bit as it establishes its roots them youll see growth up top pickup pretty steadily. get reading others journals any strain will give you an idea of whats normal if you read a few of them.

top soil being dry means nothing dont bother its still got way too much water than it could use underneath. over watering is a way easier way to kill a plant compared to underwatering. ive started seedlings and i still have barely watered them after a week or two at this stage. dryer soil will make them search out with roots for moisture leading to a better plant anyway. on the other hand a constantly drenched set of roots will rot and not develop properly. roots need oxygen not just water.

Hey Chief :smoke: How ya doin?........... It's normal for a seedling to emerge bowed over; it'll right itself soon enough, and no pickin' at the seed case either! Bgrt is spot on about overwatering, but you don't want it to become deep dry either. Nice, even, consistent moisture is what they want,... Pick a spot away from the seedling, take a pencil tip or something and gently turn up some soil an inch or so down and see how the moisture content changes as you go deeper. Usually, you'll find that there's plenty deeper down, but the surface inch or so will fluctuate. Misting is okay IF you don't leave them wet at the end of the day, the seedling must be 'dry', or the Rot Fairy (:finger:) will surely come callin'... If you must water, misting will be less disruptive of the soil surface too,... do it early in the day to give water time to diffuse out more evenly, and let the seedlings dry off... beyond that, mind what the Ninja says, no touchy!! ..... I'm right behind ya bro', I started my seeds to germ'ing today... ahhh yeah!!:hump: The pots are all filled, racked and ready!.... now the waiting game begins....

I'm doing pretty good Waira, thanks for asking. I hope that all is well with you too. I do feel a lot better now that my seed is finally above ground. Now I'm just waiting on the other one to pop out. And yeah, it's been really tempting but I've managed to not touch or mess with the seedling.

And I wish you good luck on your grow as well.
