New Grower Is this normal?

i have also noticed that older plants (after stem turns woody) have had hollow stems, i once asked a buddy and he said it was a good thing because that's the plants "viens" to carry fluids. i left it at that and made a pipe from a big one:)
:smokebuds:

"The next criteria for elimination is borrowed from Michael Starks' book, Marijuana Potency, and involves stem structure. Large, hollow main stems are sought while pith-filled stems are eliminated. Backed by years of observation, I agree that hollow stems do seem to facilitate THC production."

This is what Dj Short says about them in, "The art of selection and breeding fine quality cannabis"

You can read the entire post here. http://www.cannabisculture.com/articles/2788.html

Here's something I found on another sight, it says the hollow stem plants produce more thc. That could explain why after wake n baking with her today I got in the shower, forgot to shampoo, and started getting out without rinsing off the soap. I was clusterfucked! lol
Does anybody else see this with their plants?

Apparently I can't paste it, but it refers to a book, Marijuana Potency by Michael Stark. He make the observation about higher thc and hollow stems and says growers should seek out plants that have the trait.

Excellent job BudSwell! You earned the :slap:

Thanks to everybody for the replies, it's good to know that when we have issues, others are there.
Thanks for the rep slap a420er, it's my first!

I guess I won't do anything about it, but I have noticed that some stems do fold over like a soda straw quite easily. As the buds get heavier on the other plants I have going I have folded a couple. I just wire them up and they keep growing, no real noticeable effect.

Hey BudSwell, one thing to keep in mind that you may already know but I wanted to point out. That plant was stretched pretty bad, probably lack of light caused that. Either there wasn't enough light and she was stretching for it or the light was too far away from her. In either case that will cause leggy plants. The closer the light is to her the less height she will grow. The picture below was grown in a 2 liter bottle cut in half, so 1 liter of soil. The lights were kept about 12" away from the plant. You can always stake them up but it is better to keep the light down low.

Enjoy your rep bro! Hopefully it won't be the last. Keep participating!

She was starved for light early on. Too many big pots, not enough light. So she got sacrificed as the runt out of the group and transplanted to the bottle. It was for the good of the others and I knew she wouldn't do much. The others were taking up too much space and I never could get her much light without taking away from someone else, again sacrificial lamb. I cut her ultimately because I was out of smoke and money, she could have gotten a little bigger but oh well. Here's what I just smoked from her. Very nice bright high. Descent taste too for not being cured. Here's a shot of her ex tent mates too. My grow log is in my signature, update coming very soon!
P.s. as always thanks for the advice, I do take it all into deep consideration due to the talent that is giving it.

Beautiful ladies you have there!
Thank you. They are all a little stretched here and there, but filling in nicely. They all still have at least 3 weeks I would say, but hey what do I know, it's my first grow! I have learned that my 165w led could use a little help in my 3'x2' tent!
