DIY Jcloud's ventilation help thread

Put the fan and carbon filter outside of the tent. You are going to need all the room you can get inside. Trust me on this I learned the hard way as you can see:

WOW! Thanks a ton I was actually considering building a silencer box if nothing worked. Im going to take your advice. An try to build a strong silencer box out of wood or something??? What'd you use to build yours? An the inline fan still fit on the carbon filter? much needed advice thanks before I go through the trouble. I will check out the sts fan see what your talking about. My tent is a 2 x 2 x 3. Your right all the air being pushed out. Will be noticeable most likely damn. That's going to be a issue

Silencing.

Get some rockwool, medium density roll and not higher density panels, wrap it round, tie on tight with wire, chicken wire, string, whatever.

Or cut up a 1" thick rockwool sheet into pieces the right size and shape to make that a "silencer box" held together with chicken wire.

Rockwool is fantastic stuff for sound deafening, you'll often see "silencer boxes" which are merely two sheets of thin metal formed in a specific way with rockwool between them. If you're a little bit handy, you can do the same thing yourself for very little shekels.

Great idea I was thinking of turning it off. When guest come over. When they leave turn it back on. But that does sound like something doable. I might try that if I can't think of anything else. Appreciate it

Damn had a full house there. Im going to buy the stuff very soon to vent outside my window. An when I vent outside my window the filterw/inline fan has to be inside the tent. So im preparing, I understand where your coming from though. Im not starting the grow yet. Until I get the grow material delivered an set up. Almost buying pretty much everything. Im going to need real soon. I will be posting grow on my thread. An im going to show how im going to go about ventilating outside my window in this thread. Any advice for exhausting outside during winter? My house uses central cooling and heating system. To maintain temps in the room

It may cause infiltration and heat loss in other parts of the house. Perhaps a small inlet in the plywood window and keep that room closed off to the rest of the house or some combination.

So you suggest getting making both a intake and outtake. Use the intake for winter? An exhaust outake for the other seasons? Or both? An I found the perfect mesh screens to keep out ants just wondering. An that was exactly what I was wondering myself. I very well may have to close off room from resr of house to prevent heat loss. The inline sucking all the heat out. An or cold air getting sucked out by the inline fan also. An causing the electric bill to skyrocket. Nice tip

Hey @Mañ'O'Green
My grow area is adjacent to my bedroom and my girls never get fresh air! My thinking is that CO2 levels would be higher as the air is pulled through my occupied bedroom!

I use a piece of plywood with a glued on duct vent to move air out during warm weather, and just a hole I cut in the bedroom wall to use for cold weather! Right now I'm at that in between time where it gets too humid, (especially if it's humid outside). After it gets cold enough to turn on the home heat, the extra moisture from the grow helps keep humidity levels comfortable! My question is am I hurting my grows by not providing fresh air? I should also mention that my house is old and not air tight!

Been using my mixture for over 40 years with better success than all of the commercially available ant insecticides put together. My current residence has been ant free for many years now maybe 15 years. The neighbor a few houses down had California Fire ants and it got rid of them in two weeks.
Whatever works to kill the ant colony (the queen, she lays all the eggs).

From what I've read, yes high ratios of boric acid to sugar work, whether as powder or diluted, but a mixed powder dose in the 2-4% range is optimal. As doses get higher and in diluted form, a large percentage of ants carrying food back (in their mouthes) die before delivering the it to their colony and, hopefully, some fed to the queen (rather useless considering their numbers and that you want to kill the queen). Lower doses allow many more ants to carry back more tainted sugar, with the larger amount poisoning the colony's food stash. And the queen is likely to be fed this rather pure sugar.

No what I am suggesting is that you allow air into the room from the same window that you use to vent it out. That way you are not forcing cold air to come into other rooms in the house.
