Grow Mediums JR's Poco Loco in the Coco.....

Hi Jay everything looking good, seeya for the next installment.
Good work bruh.

Yeah man this is nuts! Love the look of the set up, when I have more space I will deffo be giving this a go in the future!
My 30litre pot grow is coming along slowly,
The coco does dry out at the start but once you got some more roots and nutes in there it slows down. Have you got a speed controller for your fan?

God speed JR
Play safe,
StonedBRO

Yeah bro I have the Hydrofarm active air controller and it works like a charm, i keep it at like 50-75% all the time and it keeps the grow room at around 82 degrees give or take a couple.

This grow is gonna be nuts! I can't wait until the growth starts to take off, and the net starts to fill up! I'll definitely be doing a coco run in the future.

Haha me too!! Ive been seeing more and more people add coco to their soil mixes to get some more oxygen and grow better roots. Right now tho im kinda pissed with PHing the water.. last night i couldnt get to my res in time and so it fed at 8+ph.. wish there was an automatic ph adjuster!! For real!!

Hey, JR :) Looking sweet, Bro! So, that pump is making the grade? Great setup. I'm with Bandit- can't wait for the burst to hit! Peace and love, Brother

Yessir the pump works beautifully, just the right amount of pressure for two plants i think. My drip rings are wonky though.. gonna redo them to try and get the waterto drip out evenly.

Need some help: ive got this brown sludge building up in my bucket, anyone know what it is?? The container isnt light proof but it has an airstone moving things around and keeping it fresh.

What it do Jayar bro, damn I feel like I've been gone a good min, like I went in for a quick stint and just got out, lol. I really didn't have shit important to say, just felt the need to be seen.
On to you for a second, might want to run a lil h202 in there, I'm not sure if it being see through is an issue, you def shouldn't have sludge of any sorts I don't think. How are the temps in it?

Hey Jay, how much slime is building up? I sometimes get a little coating of brown slime on my pump and hosing. However its not enough slime for it to break off and start floating in the res.

Could be warmer temps
Could be light getting to water
And like i said i normally have a little build up but nothing of concern.

Do not run h2o2 through system. Usually that will just make the slime worse.

With this setup its ok to have debris in the res. The pump should filter out the debris, and even more the coco will filter it out additionally. Since the roots are not sitting in the water everything will be ok. Next res change wash your bucket out with some h2o2 and fresh water and youll be good. Maybe take some black plastic or tape and completely black out the bucket (if you havent already). Also try taking some black plastic and drape it over your plant table to block light from getting in.

What up free yeah man feel like i havent seen u in a min!! Lol even tho its been like 2 days... hahaha :Sharing One: the temp of the water is pretty cool, like upper 60s and low 70s, so idk.. im not trippin yet its not much.

Yeah man the slime is on the hose of the air pump, not the water pump, and some on the water line. I called it sludge cuz when i scrapped it out it look like coagualted texture not like pure slime.

While i have u bro what do u do when you cant make it to adjust the ph in time.. i missed it once and nothing negatives happened but is there like an automatic adjuster tool??

I think someone makes an automatic adjuster for around 300$. Maybe bluelab? However its not a big deal. The good thing is that this is hydro without roots sitting in water. The coco will help buffer the PH and balance it. A swing of +.5 in the first day after a res change is normal. I Usually check my PH once a day and that is when I get home from work. Its ok if the ph isnt perfect every time, the main idea is to atleast check it once a day. Your res PH should stabilize after a day or 2.

And about the slime again. I forgot to mention that my sludge build up disappeared after I built my new table and covered it with black plastic. Also helps to keep temps down.

Thanks for the tip i will be lightproofing the underside of the table today. Last night i found out that the slime is now a problem. My lines are clogged :/ the water flow has been reduced to a very slow drip.. should i get a stronger pump and run a 1/2" line instead?? Im thinking that the 1/4" tubing is too easily clogged because it's so skinny.
Any advice is welcome guys.

I've never used anything other than 1/4" and never had problems jay. My idea would be to take black plastic and strap it to the bottom of your table leaving enough slack in the plastic to make your drainage drip to the center of the plastic. Put your res under the hold and everything should drain in the res. Allow enough plastic on the sides so it will hang from your table to the floor completely shading the underside of the table.

Are you using drip clean? And with 2 plants your pump should be plenty big enough. What temperature is your res at. Sounds to me like your res is staying to hot, need to cool it down.
