Live Stoner Chat Killing your Auto at harvest....

Can I chop down the buds that are ready, and leave the others that have all clear tric's that haven't been exposed to the light as much for a couple of days

:greenthumb: sure can, staged harvest is pretty common,... buds may not ripen evenly, or sometimes folks like to take samples at different levels of ripeness to see what works best for them,...

an annual comes back every year ? autoflowering cannabis is a diplodocus (sp?) meaning it lives once, when its dead its dead.
i hope i read that somewhere and it wasnt just a dream.

sorry folks, ive just remembered i think a diplodocus is a dinosaur :face:

Cannabis is a Annual- it sprouts, grows seed, and dies. Perennials come back year after year.

I am a perennial pothead. :pass:

Here somehing interesting I grew an auto this winter and harvested 2 oz . I had been reading about reveging and thought I'd try it. It is now developing luscious new growth, but u can see it is in a real hurry to flower, I'm hoping I can get another oz or two as It is now an out door grow. Well see if it goes to seed, I left a couple small bud on it . I'l take a pic later and try to post.

Well guys surprise autoflower can have 2 crops, as for lasting longer then that I won't be able to tell. I grew a blue cheese some how she got knocked up and had little ones( seeds). I then planted said seed on Dec 2017 a few months later I harvested 2 oz of the fluffiest bud you ever seen, it was like trying to smoke hair minus the bad smell. So I left some popcorn bud and leaves and put her in with my new crop. It grew out door all summer long and is now beginning to flower. I'm running out of season as Sept will have frost and the remaining crop, also slow to flower and have to go in doors under lights. Because I have too much other potentially good smoke this plant will have to be humainly ufinised. What can be made with a just beginning to flower mmj. I'll have a few other immature plants as well. What a shame some nice plants but no time and no room to finish all. I'll post a few picks shortly.

In the past, i've basically killed my auto cannabis plants
at the point of harvesting them. But actually, perhaps that's
not necessary. Perhaps i could harvest the flowers, leave the
leaves in tact... and allow the plant to live beyond the harvest.

With other plants, like grape vines, for example. The root stock
determines the productivity of the plant during it's fruiting period.
A small root stock, yields small bunches of grapes and smaller
sized grapes. Conversely, a larger root stock, yields larger bunches
of grapes with larger grapes. The productivity of the plant is related
to the size and development of it's root system.

So maybe killing the plant at harvest time, isn't such a good idea.
Maybe it would be a better idea to leave the plant alone. So it
can develop it's root system and generate greater productivity
the next time around.

Have any of you done that ? If so what happens ?
In particular, does it flower perpetually ?
It's an auto-flowering plant, right ?
Does it go into a vegetative phase ?
If so, why didn't it do that the first time around ?
(It's not photo-sensitive).
How many years would an auto flowering plant live ?

I'd love to hear from those that are experienced and/or
knowledgeable in these questions.

Have a nice day :)
