Live Stoner Chat L.e.d / autos

Ahh, the old chestnut.

Whilst never having used one of these kinds of LED light, my guess would be "veg only" at the start, then "both" when in flower. First reason is, obviously, lower energy costs and less heat to get rid of, but also I'm guessing the "veg" part will have more "blue" light which, imo, should keep things a bit less stretchy, as I found out the hard way that too much "red" gives you a beanpole of a plant that just stretches to hell which is not what we want.

Ive been growing photoperiod for a lot of years useally under 600hps. Ive recently bourght 4 platinum led's. Never have i tryed my hand at autoflowers. I've looked in most places for advice but never is there a straight answer. Anymore help would be appreciated . thanks guys

Well, I'll put it this way. I start plants under 6500K light for the first 2-3 weeks before putting them under my circa 3000K DIY panel. Now, as far as I'm led to believe, an auto should be heading into preflower around then so more "reds" than "blues" are needed, and what seems to be the accepted norm is start under "veg" until going into flower then use BOTH settings to maximise the light the plant gets.

I'm no expert, I'm just going by what I've found works for me, others will obviously know more and be able to completely baffle you with the science behind it all.

Mate. Thats the best answer ive seen so far . Thanks for that !!!! .. im growing critical mass / gorrilla glue. (P.s i love the science behind it) :-)

Yep, if you are coming from HID and photos the same rules apply it's just the girl will show you her pistils and from there usually about 5-7days before forming ovules (buds)

This happens anywhere from day 21 to day 28 from sprout (obviously this can vary!)

When you spot pistils use the next week to change your spectrum and feed. You obviously don't need to change your light schedule.

Most of all enjoy watching them blast off into the stratosphere! Fast buggers!

What chemicals do you guys use . Ive always been a canna guy but now ive switched to advanced newts. Think advanced are better designed specifically for canabis plants. ??? I like the range of products advanced do .

Its just that i thourght id try my hand with autos and having not grown them (overlooked them) plus seen what other people are pulling off just wanted to give them a bash .

I'm in a transition, was rolling my own with a selection of nutes from various vendors but will be using a range from Sensi Pro. There are many options, the most important thing is keeping pH in range and work with maximum 50% strength nutes to begin.

Monitor ppm or EC and build nutes up if the plants can accept them. This is very important for autos.
