Went to a freinds grow to help set up some stuff and a few of his plants had 3 fans on the leaf not 7 like a normal leaf. Why is this? I can get pics tomarrow if need be

Post some pictures. How old is the plant and where on the plant are these leaves?

He has 3 that are about 2 months old and 4 that are 1 month and all of them have these weird leafs all over the but some of the leafs are fine he is growing under a hps 600watt and hps 400watt

No there is a BLUEBERRY KUSH,ATF,SOUR GRAPE, VANILLA KUSH, BLUE DREAM,187, and something else they are photos plants if that helps

So there is a lot of diff strains but almost all of them have this some only a few leafs some all the leafs.

Make sure The Ph is correct first. What kind of nutes is he using and what dosage? Is he using cal-mag? Also it could be the lights are to close and there heat stressed. What are the temps in the grow area?

Yes he uses cal mag and GH 3 part but only adding a little. Its his first grow and when I walked into the room temp was high like 80 or so but got it down to 73 with more air flow hum was 32%

Lights are about 2 and a half feet from tops ill take pics and more specs I'm going there in like an hour

Original or starter fan leaves on auto-flowers are fewer in leaves. This is normal.

Its not an autoflower and its not normal I have never seen this many on so many types of strains

If it is not genetics you would have to assume environment...I wish I knew enough to offer an opinion of any value! I am very curious as to what the cause is. I have one photo, an HSO Bubba Kush and I thought she was odd with 9, 11 and 13 leaves, but discovered that was normal. I'm going to see what I can find out.

Edit: Spent some time googling (is that a word?). All I could find was either genetics, they called it "duck foot" after the plant of that name. Which we have ruled out due to the different strains involved. I did see one or two mentions of temperature and light, not enough of either. Don't know if that's of any help, hope so!
