I germinated 8 regular seeds in water for 24 hours and then planted them in 6 inch planters. I filled the bottomb inch with a combination of my living soil mix so they could get used to the soil in the autopots before their final transtrans. I cut slits in the sides and holes in the bottom and turned these pots into instatransplant pots so I could wait for them to show sex and then keep the best 2 females to transfer directly to the autopots. About half of the seeds had already cracked before putting them into the soil. It's been 3 long days waiting for signs of life. Next time I'm definitely going with rapid rooters. As a new grower the anticipation and unanswered questions is stressful. Did I plant too deep, am I keeping the soil too moist, did I compact the soil too much, what a stressful holiday week!

if you stuck quote or @ me like @Slimpikens pot gets a water before i plant anything,jab a pencil in the soil try and get the tail to go down (try) cover the seedshell about 1-2cm down,stick a plast cup over the top and kinda ignore it for 2 days.

The pencil trick sounds perfect. I tried making a reasonable depth hole with my finger but not feeling too secure with myself if I'm honest. I also was torn between using my fingers or tweezers. I thought I could more precisely guage the pressure I was applying with my fingers as opposed to the tweezers and I also hesitated handling them too much when one landed incorrectly in the hole. They went into the soil on Thursday night after soaking for 24 hours in water and I was expecting to see at least a few popping the soil or at least some sign of life. Guess I'll try to chill for another 24 hours. I hear people get into gardening for stress relief. I feel like this endeavor is gonna need a healthy snack of benzos before the end!

I see the top of a seed or husk in one of my pots. I'm not sure if that's how a seed is supposed to emerge from the pot or if the soil has slowly been eroding from misting the soil every 4 hours. Hopefully this is a sign that things are slowly working their way to the surface.

sometimes the seedshell works its way off underground,sometimes falls off as the first leaves open up,sometimes shell gets a bit stuck and needs a lil encouragement.

After watching these guys stall out I got curious and dug up one of the seedlings that looked to be in the worst shape. The root system looked exactly like my previous failed Automazars. In my attempt to prevent tap root damage by planting early before it was fully extended it appears that the seeds expended all their energy trying to get started but the misting every 4 hours seems to have really compacted the soil. I dug up 2 others and they had the same big bulge and short tap root. Next time I will use rapid rooters or let the tap root get longer before planting. Luckily only cost me a weeks time, a lot of stress, and a few seeds. Back at it after the holidays!

On a happier note, I just got my new autopots system. I have another 3x2 multi chamber grow tent that I want to try to use for breeding. I was going to keep with the same smart autopots system to keep things consistent between the 2 tents but my rationale was that I didn't need 5 gal pots for breeding and autopots was having a buy one get one free on their dual 2.2 gallon easy to grow system, so I'm going to use one in my flowering tent and one in my breeding tent so I can keep it as simple as switching pots between the tents when it comes time to cross pollinate. I keep making mistakes and it's frustrating but I know I'll get this figured out with a little studying and a lot of support. Happy holidays everyone!

Ok, let's try this again. I put 4 Automazar seeds directly in rapid rooters. I started with 6 auto mazar seeds and chose the 2 darkest for the first round that failed so these 4 were lighter colored and smaller. I followed the directions and got the rooters moist and covered the hole with a tiny piece. After germination they will go into their instatransplant pots. Will these stay moist enough on their own or or will I need to most once a day?
