Lighting LED NEWB in NEED

So number of plants doesnt matter, its the footage, does that apply with HPS\MH too, or just LEDs?

I did some math and if its 40w per sq.ft, in a 8x8 thats 64 sqft times 4w, is 2560 total watts...correct?

Same for HPS/MH afaik, it's a matter of getting the light to the area and led's have angled lenses just like hps have angled reflectors to maximize light intensity.

It's correct the maths but you'll need to knock a bit off for you to get yourself in there to look after them, standing circulation fans, etc. how much space you need depends on how big you are too :)

A 1ft gap down the door side would give you 2240 but knock it down to 2000w(true watts) and you'll be fine!

If the costs are too high for 2 AT600's for example you can always partition it in half for the first grow and get one to start with.

OK. So where do i go to build a 2000w LED?

I started this thread LED experiment there's a link on there for the thread on RollItUp. The grower on there is called GreenGenes and he's trying out all sorts of home made cobs, plenty of build info in the thread and he'll be happy to answer any questions. He also tests prototypes for Apache so he's the guy with the discount code for them as well.

Can I just add that the only reason I'm directing you there is because I haven't found anyone on here to direct you to for your size set up, I humbly apologize if we have our own LED expert on here doing the same stuff!

I have asked the same questions as you and received much help!

can say you've come to the right place anyway :)

here there are people who will help you, it may take time but do not worry where it takes a little while :)

it's like buying a car! you can not just take the first best.

first you asking the friends and then you read about it and eventually try one on and then buy it ..
if it is good and everything feels right. :)

same thing about the lamp!!!

take your time, read and ask people who grow with the lamp right now and look at their harvest how it works for real.

I will help you as much as possible and no questions are bad questions!

But for people to give you an honest answer as there are several things you should think about! :)

make a list of what you want out of the lamp and what your budget is and so on.
do not forget that the light is only a tool ! it's just one of the tools and some people might do really well with a lamp and then when you buy it you may do less good results.

as I said, the light is just one of many things that you should consider.

if I may say:)
tell us a bit more about yourself and your experiences and explain a bit how you are as a person, etc., then you should ensure that when people get a more personal view of you so it will be easier for them to help you too.

you give and you take :)

it will reply that i said :)
give it time!!
once again!
give it time :)

do not make the same mistake as me and nag around!

but invite yourself and so will things back to you :)

Excuse my bad English but also hope you understand :)

but some things you should consider is the spectrum and the angle of the lens :)

that's what I was taught and then some more :)

best regards
E
