Live Stoner Chat Lets talk Humidity

Humidity is something Ive never really bothered with.
Ive always had low room humidity, approx 20/25% and I always thought lower the better. Mainly worrying about the dreaded rot and mold.

Now Im growing photo varieties I can maintain the veg period as I see fit.
Ive been wrestling with my new system but hopefully now Ive turned the corner.
As such I want to have a good couple of vegging weeks and really treat my ladies.

So today I thought about Room Humidity and Im thinking I will buy a humidifier and create the best atmosphere I can.
What do you folks use?
What do you think is the best RO for clones, vegging and flower?

Lets hear it people :tiphat:

I quit worrying about RH a while ago. I mist my plants at least twice a day, sometimes more. Other than that, I rarely even look at the meter. I'd be more concerned about high humidity during lat flower than anything else. Hell these plant will grow in areas that are almost deserts. Look at where Morraccan and Afghanistan strains grow

Doesn't apply if your growing organic as far as the nute issue goes. Yes they will consume and transpire more water. The most I do is if the RH is below 25%, is hang a couple wet towels from coat hangers in the grow room. that will usually get me into the mid 30's. Ive seen no issues with growth, in fact, I've got a monster in progress right now!

Humidity is a big issue for me , I have to deal with it 8 months of the year , I run the dehumidifier 24/7 - I have the room set at 35 % and take near on 20 ltr every 24 hours out .It is a big one and will bring my room down from 70 % to 35% in about 2 min .

That's exactly my thoughts on it. And if you've got good air flow through buds I think even that risk is reduced.

There is also this video where it is said that sativa's like higher humidity than indica's......watch at your own risk........any thoughts?

Im getting a humidifier.
For me 20% is too low, Ive never bothered before so if its better I should notice.

I have major problems with lack of humidity, in Winter. Can't get it over 20% without humidifiers... I have a 1 gal in the auto closet, 2 gal in the veg tent, and a Venta 3 gal just outside the flower tent. I get 45%, max.... I tend the humidifiers more than the plants, these days! lololol

Ya'll need to come to Georgia in August and take back home some of our humidity. : ) Usually about 80-90% humidity.
Actually I just checked my weather station and the humidity is 21% outside. Tomorrow it will be 100% since we are getting rain.
If a plant such as cannabis sprouts in the spring it has adapted to higher humidity and likes the moisture while growing. Then in the fall when it is flowering the humidity is usually lower and causes it to produce resins to help slow down water loss.

armanidog, what you are saying would be correct for photo period plants but not for autos. If you start an auto in the spring it is going to be finished by Jul/Aug. I am in the Northeast and avoiding bud mold during the summer is always a concern. It is really important for outdoor growers to select mold resistant varieties that do well in their local climate. Going easy on the nutes and selecting a location with good air flow and early morning sun to help the plants dry off as early as possible also helps a lot
