so i have three 600w digital dimmable ballasts and all three are dimmed to 300 watts since my room im using cant handle more then that, but sometimes i walk around my groom and these the lights will turn off one by one untill there all off and then they will all come back on one by one, any ideas what might be causing this?

keep getting shocked in my groom

hey guys i have three 600w digital dimmable virtual sun ballasts that are dmmed down to 300w, i have 1 ac unit and a bunch of fans(regular and industrial), but sometimes when i touch the metal ducting or tin foil thats around the ac unit(i have tin foil around the ac to make sure all the air goes into the 4in ducting) i get a real good shock, any ideas what this is from? i did get shocked a few times last grow but it was from a pipe that my ballast was sometimes touching so i thought that had something to do with it but for this grow i moved everything into better places. if i left anything out that youd like to know pls let me know.

id combine this with your other thread, sounds related. ive no electrical experience but it sounds like your room cant handle those 3 ballasts, maybe even dimmed they draw more than you think, have you tried running one? whole thing sounds pretty dodgy, put up a detailed pic of your setup if you can. might help find out where the shocks are coming from.

Same issue, no need for separate threads.

You've got a serious electrical problem there and a possible fire hazard. I'm not an electrician but have done my share of home wiring of the years. You could have a bad ground or a loose wire somewhere. I would suggest you have an electrician in to look at it. I understand that could be difficult since it's a grow room, but I do believe you have a serious risk situation for a fire.

well my apartment is wired pretty shitty, i had an electrician come by like 2 months ago in between grows because my breaker kept popping if i used the micro wave or toaster so i wanted to see if he can add another breaker to my box to have the g room on its own but he told me my entire house except for 1 outlet is all on a 15 amp breaker and the 1 outlet is on a 20 amp breaker, so i got some heavy duty extension cords and put my grow room entirely on the 20 amp outlet and put all my house related products on the 15 amp breaker. so i thought i should still be under my limit iv never had this breaker turn off cuz of too much electricity yet. ill grab some pics for you guys in a min

Try turning everything in your grow room off and then start flicking them back on one by one and using yourself as a test bunny if they shocks not to bad.
Process of elimination should tell you where the shocks coming from

What you need to do is add up all the amperage from your lights, fan, A/C, etc. Everything that is on that circuit. For a 20 amp circuit you shouldn't exceed more than 80% of its capacity, so 16 amps total. But that wouldn't account for getting shocked when touching something. That indicates a loose connection or a bad ground.

thanks alot guys, ill still grab u those pics im just getting some work done first, ill do the trial and error thing when my lights are about to turn off since i think there alittle confused right now since the lights went on n off about 3 or 4 times

here you can see all three ballasts and they go in through the cool air intake thats connecting the ac to the room then u can see a diy carbonfilter connected to the heat exhaust which is going outside thhe house. there is another 4 inch inline fan at the other end of the ducting lmk if i forgot anything
