Lighting lights!!!

Hey guys,
I'm a first time grower. After months of research, im ready to begin this journey. I was wondering how many plants can a 1000w hps light handle. Also could I use more than one type of light. Because a friend of mine has some CFL lights he said I can have. Im thinking I can have the cfls on the sides, hps at the top. Any light guidance will be greatly appreciated.

I have about a 12x12 bedroom and about a 40x20 unfinished basement. I could use either. I will buy 5 gal buckets. Fox farm ocean forest, perlite. I still don't know which nutes to get. I think I want something organic.

Welcome to AFN.You have to decide what the size of your grow area will be before we can tell how many pots you can use.Keep in mind that those lights will give off a lot of heat so you will have to figure a way to deal with that.

What's going on guys, I decided to get a 5x5x7 tent.. Looking to get two 400w hps.. I'm looking to grow 8 pots

Some questions you need to ask yourself:

Whats your budget?
Best to invest first in safety and measuring tools!
Maybe better to have 4 big plants ipv 8 plants
600w hps have better output watt/par vs 400W!
Have you considered using leds, less dangerous, less heat, ...
Maybe go for a rdwc system ( muddy style)
