DI, RO or even tap are fine for rinsing then storage solution in the cap is probably the most important part. I have a apera ph60 and replace the probe yearlyish cause I do forget and live it out occasionally
I've left my old Bluelabs Pen out, dried out. I recalibrate and it works fine again. I've never changed my other probe. Remember, we aren't building rocket ships. My meter only goes to the first decimal point. I'm surprised some of you guys have to adjust to the second decmal point. Seams excessive.
Just take an empty milk jug cuz u don’t have to use their jugs! I would roll into Walmart pushing a basket with 15 empty jugs in it cuz going into 5gal was too difficult when i was mixing a gallon at a time!

If u don’t use water with 0ppm then it will leave spots on the bulb soaking in it so it will stop being able to read properly! Thats why blulab or one of the companies in the case the pen comes in also includes (or is sold separately) a gentle bottle brush u use to clean the probe off!

Batteries are still good according to the indicator. I always store the probe with a drop or 2 of water in the cap, theres actually a little sponge disc in the bottom of the storage cap. So as long as that has some moisture in it I just pop it back on. Im gonna replace the probe and just go to 2 point calibration.
Water or storage solution? If you are storing in plain/distilled water you will ruin the probe. You need 3molar KCl storage solution made for pH probes. If you are going to buy a new pen, get some. It's cheap and lasts a long time.
EDIT: And I see others have already commented this.
