Just ran into this little fella at work. It’s a turkey vulture.

I ate one o' them once. We were anchored in North Bight, Andros Island, Bahamas, building a new spar out of Andros pine, and spearfishing a lot. My Haitian crewmate, Jean Batiste and I had dived up 200 large conch and strung the meat on a rope to dry on a deserted island nearby while we went back to work on the boat. After a while we noticed a bunch of vultures trying to get the meat. Conch is very tough, but they managed to rip a few off the rope. Jean Batiste borrowed the captain's .410 shotgun and we headed to the island and stalked through the scrub to get close. The closest buzzard was tossing a piece of conch up in the air and letting it fall in the sand, trying to get an angle where he could eat it. Jean leveled the shotgun and it fell over, dead. He ran over and grabbed it by the neck, and yelled in his pidgin English, "He good, Mon, he turkey!" He started a fire to pluck the feathers, took it back to the boat and stewed it for a few hours with plenty of hot sauce. It was still as tough as shoe leather. When we got to Cap Hatian, the dried conch meat was a big hit. There were people literally starving to death. I guess it's worse now after the earthquakes and the gang takeover.

In the early days of AFN I had a post that I couldn't make head nor tail of so I asked for help from other language staff.

Turns out he was a dyslexic Scotsman with a heavy accent..who wrote the way he talked.

Once we'd identified the problem... within a week we could all understand what he was typing.. :headbang: ..your brain flips to adapt to it.

I See in patterns.....I Feel them when they are Off...I might not be able to identify the problem immediately...but ...I know Something is off.
That's similar to the benefit I get. Divergent thinking and intuitively picking up on patterns that others don't see (yet). Really useful in a clinical setting.

Unless you mean synesthesia, which I also experience (see sound and hear movement) but I don't know if that's connected to dyslexia.

Yay more research to dig in to!

Welp…. I collected a few more vials of pollen and got rid of the male in the tent
