You can't find my sub by ear. It's bypassed to run 50Hz and down. This also will EQ to wherever you set the mic. This takes phase and time delay of other speaker into account.

There was a rather well known team of storm chasers killed in the El Reno, OK tornado when their rental car got hit….. it was basically wadded up like a piece of construction paper and the occupants were ejected and far away, from both the car, and each other….

We got chased by a huge squall line that stretched from the eastern horizon to the western horizon, with 6 waterspouts at one time. We were mid Caribbean headed north for the Windward Passage on a 46' sailboat, loaded until the waterline was 6 or 8" under water. We had light wind, just poking along at 4 knots, but the storm front, or maybe tropical convergence zone, got close enough I could see the whitecaps behind the squall line. I cranked up the auxiliary Perkins 4-108 diesel and got the speed up to over 8 knots, top speed under power for that boat. Two of the twisters gradually twisted around each other and merged into one huge one with a footprint as wide as a football field. We were prepared to just shut the hatches and shelter below deck and hope for the best if we got hit, but by the time it got dark we were gaining distance. We made it to NY 8 or 9 days later. That load was good shee-it too, Colombian amarillo, yellow and sticky! I wish I could get my hands on those 1970's genetics now!

Me, but mostly handwired tube stuff.

Don't spend any money until you have a properly treated room, that's the most important component.

The wall behind the speakers should have diffraction, and be 'live' sounding.

Bass traps at first reflection point, and rear wall. You shouldn't be able to tell the size of the room with eyes closed.

A bigger sub is better than more small ones. Currently using a Velodyne DD-18, and using a Marchand active crossover, biamping to the MG20's
