I believe that to be a good farming practice. Keeping waste exposures to a minimum, lowers the risk of anaerobic microbes simply by draining off the waste as it forms. I use gravity to a bucket outdoors and then feed the run-off to my yard. No waste.
When I look at those gears all I see is parents getting ground with broken teeth, kinda like life for many I suppose.
Did I tell you this? one thing for sure my memory is shit when I am stoned. I made chili verde and tamale masa pies. I steamed the masa for an hour. The jar ring for a wide mouth mason jar works perfectly for the masa for the 6" x 1.5" pie pans. Put some verde in the bottom of the pan, the masa disk in the middle and cover with chili verde. Bake in a hot oven 30 min fresh, 45 - 60 minutes from frozen. The best way to describe this is luxurious.
