Decided to post this here instead of the infirmary because I wonder if this is partly related to the power of the autocob light. I'm a newby so for all I know this is pretty common with any kind of light. Anyway, I have been surprised a couple of times by how much bud there is hidden in the lower canopy. Its freaking insane how much I have on one plant in particular. And I didn't realize it was happening at first so it was surprising.
But its is moist and green down there and I worry about mold. My RH is 35 in the tent but those budlets feel pretty moist and the leaf growth down low and inwards to the main stem is pretty green once get in there and have a look.
This plant is bushy. I LST tied it down more than once, pruned it a couple of times (but not extreme -- minimal lollipop), and I pretty much had to do some foilage management to open up the spots I found tonight so it gets more air.
Question. Would you remove this type of growth or leave it and try and manage it? I"d say its 3 weeks in to flowering so I'm afraid pruning might do more damage than good. I lowered an autcob close and then angled directly in to the area in the low canopy that I opened up a bit.
Also would you open it up and encourage more growth by letting light in? If you do that sure your yield is more but what if you end up creating a mold monster?
I took some pictures but its hard for me to capture this with a camera.
One of the first things I thought was the autocob are so powerful they can encourage more growth down low than normal. Other lights might not get much growth going on down there. If so, I'm going to rethink what I do with canopy management/training in the future. I'd love to maximize the power of the autocob!!! Hell, I'd love double by autocobs so I can do more side and spot lighting on the lower sections and make use of that crop space.
These are buds in the lower canopy and very close to the main stem.
Autocob doing spotlight duty! I opened up that part of the lower canopy and have more fan power on it and decided to blast some autocob life in to the dark, dank inside of the plant.
