Dear reader from around the world,

As I've told you, there would be a growlog whenever the time is right. Well, the time is right now.
This summer I'll indulge you in my ways, I'll take you on a journey through my methods and will try to show you how we roll around here in the wetlands called The Netherlands.

First things first; I can't start before april, because temperatures still drop below zero. Some readers will notice I'll only use Celsius, centimeters, metres/meters. Sorry Americans, this time you'll have to adapt, I'm already writing in English so cut me some slack ;-)

Back to bussines! What do we have on the menu this season LR2? I hear you wondering. Well, here goes:
- Autofem Amnesia (tastes like pineapple, not like pinecones)
- Blueberry dieselryder REG
- Critical Jack Herer Autofem
- Forestberry haze (some new hybrid!?) REG
- Taiga #2 (If you've ever had the original Power Plant from around here, you'll understand why) Autofem
- NDB x Ierdbei (New Dame Blanche is a reintroduced oldskool white widow. If you've been in NL in the 90's or early 2000's you've probably smoked just that. Ierdbei is a pretty 'new' strain from eastern europe. The white widow everyone's used to right now is NOTHING compared to the old one)

And of course the holy grail of my collection: Pineapple Dane. A 25/75 AF-hybrid with the best qualities from both worlds. A high yielding white strain I created in late '12. Right now a friend is testing this strain indoors, so far so good.

Also I'll be planting some Bubblegum cutlings if I can get them to flower. I still need to work out how to give them 12/12 outdoors. This strain is originaly crossed by E$K0B@R (a famous dutch grower) but he didn't like it somehow, traded some seeds and ended the entire existence of this strain around here. A grower who obtained some of these seeds has been growing them eversince, trading every now and then. I managed to get a few seeds from him. A few years later some seedshops seem to have them, but still I like the seeds with a story the most.

I'll be doing some crossing this year, trying to make some nice-tasting AF hybrids for the coming years.

I don't need any rep points or all that, if you're interested; just drop a line or two. That'll give me more satisfaction than some points I don't care about. If you have question: ask them! I'd like enthousiastic readers/followers to encourage me to keep updating. I'll try my best to keep you guys entertained as part of that deal.

If that critical jack is the same breeder as mine, it'll handle a MONSTROUS amount of abuse...like epic levels of abuse. I root bound her in cup, then LST'ed her, then super cropped her, then did more LST, then topped every single terminal node off every single side branch, then LST'ed her again WAY below 90*, yanked the top terminal nodes down so she was pointing at the ground, and she bounced back in like 2 hours. The plant has literally been ripped on in every direction, root bound, underwatered, and she only gets the nutes I'm using on my flowering JEM, so she's getting like 700ppm nutrient solutions every day, approximately 1-1.5L per feeding. Great plant, maybe it's just my pheno, but I'm very happy with her in veg. She goes to flower mid April...

Back to the garden:
Some plant will be grown in full soil which is enriched with DCM conifere manure (w/ added mycorrhizae) and some Vivaroot for extra P and K. For some other plants I'll be using regular potting soil (Seriously, that stuff is perfect if you know what you're doing! I've been sowing in that for over 5 years at 99% germination rates, no nuteburns). I'll add some of the forementioned nutes when I start. All is biological so I don't expect any burns, since the nutes are released very slowly.
Germination will take place in either the potting soil or some cocos that I have lying around. I will be using a propagator since the birds and cats around here like to eat the youngsters, or just flick out the soil destroying the roots or snapping the plants. Sometimes they do the full package, I've lost about €40 worth of seeds last year, just because of curious f-ing blackbirds. I killed their family.. Or at least, I tried. But they came back with even more later in june (second round of AF's).
This is the first year I'll be using peat moss (sphagnum) as cutling and seedling medium. Sphagnum doesn't rot and fungi has a hard times growing on it. So I'd like to give that a try. Also it's great if you need a herbal replacement for rockwool because of the water absorbing capacities. It's just great stuff! And cheap! And easy to grow yourself, which makes it practicaly free.

That'll be it for today. First I'd like to see some kind of temperature increase! Photos can be expected coming week.

Good to hear that man! I have 'em right now under a 125W cfl and they are the most vigourous plants I've seen yet! So it could right be the same original breeder! However, your abuse sounds like regular behavior for me. I like to experiment, and when you start with experimenting, a lot will go as planned, even more will go the wrong way. But that's where the magic happens! The right wrong way has changed a lot in agricultural as well as botany techniques! Last year I did a vertical LST for instance, which ended in a somehow palm-shaped bush from a sideview. Great for balconies and small areas! Looked like a grapevine from a distance on a frontview ;-) I also managed to put some pvc-pipes in the ground to supply the roots with extra oxigen. However, there was no significant difference in growth or yield.

For your bubble gum cutts can you give them 12 -12 indoors through july ? then put them out and they should/could flower then aug - sept ? Could work ? Or just cover it up at night manually through july giving it 12 - 12 till the sun gets in line ?
Looking foreward to seeing the Tiaga go outdoors, have been considering it for a few years now, hope your sun shines brightly for many a month !!!

Yeah I was thinking about placing them outdoors in april, when the lighting hours are about 13/11. These bubblegums are mainly sativa so it would take more than two months of effort every day to put a dark sheet on top. I'm still breaking my head about alternatives, but working with electrics outdoors isn't my cup of tea. So an automated system is a no-no.
Maybe I'll just throw them outside in july and let them flower as any other plant, but here's problem #4(?): there's a (public) street light right at the plant side of my backyard. Which delays every plant from flowering with about three weeks.
So there isn't much hope for those babies.. Ah well, we'll see that when the time comes.
I am myself quite looking forward to the Taiga too. I just hope it tastes like PP! If not, I'll leave DP for what it is, and I'll build my own version. Fingers crossed!

Btw: the critical jack I almost broke by bending it yesterday has popped upright again. As if nothing happened! Even though it's an AF on 12/12 together with the bubblegums in a 45L bin, it does remarkably well! This'll be a (critical) jack-pot :booya: plant this year. Can't wait to start!
Most of my seeds come from growerschoice.nl by the way. These guys are my new go-to seedshop. Prices are low, and the have regular seeds on their menu, which is ideal if you like a certain lineage. I just can't praise them enough for being so positively different from other seedbanks and shops.

Last week the Temperaturegauge (is that a word? Thermometer!) hit 15 degrees C. This week it's -5 again at night. Dang! I'd like to get growing!
