Lighting Mars 2 400w distance

Just a quick question how far should i have my led from my plant for seedling then veg then flower.the mars site says 24 to 30 inches but this seems a little to far.

I would stay between 28 and 30 inches for veg and a few inches lower for flowering.During veg if she starts to stretch to much and get spindly looking lower it a little at a time until it stops stretching.

Depends on how much spread you need. I've safely dropped my mars II 400 to 12" with no heat stress, but that low barely covers a 2'x2' space.

Thanks for the replys guys.my tent is only 2x2x5.7 so the spread is not a problem i think i will keep it higher to start off and drop it as and when needed,thanks again you awesome stoners
