Hi,

I was trying to find some guide for ph corrections for soil but without success. I know that ph for soil is best around 6.5. The question is how to correctly measure ph of your soil. Easiest way would be to measure ph from runoff water but some info found on web claim that when measured ph of runoff water is for example 6.5 it is safe to assume that actual ph of soil is 7.0.

So how do you measure and correct ph of your soil ? :dunno:

here :Sharing One:i keep lots of info i been picking up over me time Rough Calculation Guide:

Here's some good info on ph.....
If your runoff pH is higher than your starting pH, use this equation to determine your soil pH:*
Soil pH = Runoff pH + Difference

If your runoff pH is lower than your starting pH, us this equation:
Soil pH = Runoff pH - Difference.

For example, say your the starting pH of your solution before it goes in is 6.5 and the pH of your runoff is 7.0. The difference is +0.5, so using the above equation:
Soil pH = 7.0 + 0.5*
Soil pH = 7.5

If your starting pH is 6.5 and your runoff is 6.0, your difference is -0.5 and using the above equation:
Soil pH = 6.0 - 0.5
Soil pH = 5.5
,i did write this but it well help understand you soil,im in coco, but im sure other well be along soon :pass: Peace Kudo.jpg

yes  that's what i was looking for.
i've seen this here, but now that i needed it , i just couldn't find it. thanx a lot.

till now i watered without ph meter. Few day ago i got one: my tap water is 8.0. If i put it trought brita filter (http://www.soap.com/p/brita-atlantis-water-filter-pitcher-blue-95372) it lowers to 7.0. but since i leave it 24h it goes back on 8.0.

Does anyone have any expirience with filtered water ?

And please do put any onther thougts about PH, EC, ppm and stuff here. It might be a good idea to have it all in one place. :dance2:

Alright, I'm pondering about pH too. More eyes here than in my journal, maybe :D
Paste from there, concerning coco:

Now I've been browsing the forum and got to test my coco pH. It comes out lower than pour, 4.5 and certainly not higher than five. Measured with drop test. Feed is 6.5 pH.
She's too tied up for proper flush, I don't want to risk any broken branches at this point. But in my next 'clones 12/12 grow' I should take this into account. And buy proper testing pen.
I also read that it could be root rot? For that she should be more dead, I think.

I used above formula after double checking with drops: 4.5 - 2 = 2.5 (!!!)

(Even with drop test error margins and positive thinking: 5.5 - 2 = 3.5)

I read it that ph drop tests can be pretty shady. As much that they can ruin your crops in you take them to serious. Definitely buy electronic ph meter.

I didn't see your journal but i doubt they would still look somehow ok with that kind of ph.

Maybe this would help .... http://www.growgreenerguru.com/2012/03/nutrient-deficiencies/

Great site!
I browsed through the cases and none seemed to fit my situation (link to plant: https://www.autoflower.org/f126/mk-dp-coco-cfl-grow-29190-4.html *unless the pictures are gone again).
If I had to pick one then N toxicity. Only that the description doesn't quite fit and according to ideal pH range it gives (soil less 5-7) symptom should be N def not od. All the burns visible are from bulbs.

Basically I'm concerned about loss of bud. My first grow of the strain, so can't compare, but I'd like to grow next round in ideal coco pH. Feed 7.5+ pH so it comes out 5.5-6?
And I'll stray away from heavy schedule and feed them lightly.
