Hi guys, as a new memeber my first post isn't going to be a pleasant one. My 3 girls, and mainly the oldest, are suffering from something that I'm guessing has to do with PH (manganese deficiencies?). Unfortunately, since this is my first grow, I lack the experience and the equipment to check my PH.

So my question is realy, what CAN I do about it? Will she survive? I have flushed her in neutral PH water which didnt seem to help.

PS.
Pardon my english.

Hi Megatron

Sorry to hear you have problems.
I would also guess that PH is your problem - but without a meter and readings, it's only a guess. The PH meter is one of the most important bits of kit you can own.

I'm no expert with deficiences - i try to avoid them by keeping a close eye on what i put in the soil and what comes out of the soil.

How old is the oldest plant?
What kind of soil are you using?
That pot looks really small - is it just the angle of the photo?
Have you been feeding lots of nutrients?

Hang tight buddy - someone will be along soon to help you out, but they might need to know the asnwers to those questions.

I understood the english fine by the way :D

Thanks for the quick respons Coldharbour, I have all the information you asked for!

She is 60 days today, from seed.
I'm using Gold Lables Special Mix and also their nutrients Soil A&B and Ultra PK/MG http://www.specialmix.nl
The pot is fairly smal, approximately 1 ~ 1½ L
I haven't been feeding them too much i'd say, I follow this schedule http://www.specialmix.nl/images/Soil_growing_schedule/Soil_growing_scheduleEN.pdf

Further info:
Growing under 50W LED, 18/6 light and the strain is a locally bred Lowryder 2 x AK47
90mm in/out fans

About the PH meter, I understand the importance of it and will probably invest in one til the next batch. Just wanted to get some experience without spending too much money.

I don't have a definate answer to your problems.
I would say 60 days is too young for the plant to be eating itself (finishing off), so my best guess would be that the ultra PK/MG has caused an NPK imbalance.

As a general rule - those charts are not to be followed closely - I would have started off at 1/4 strength of what they recommend and build up it up (carefully watching your plant is happy)

I can offer some advice for the next time round, i would use their light mix soil, or better one with no nutrients and plenty of perlite. Just feed them water (PH 6.2-6.4) for a couple of weeks, then start very gently with your grow nutes - build up the amount given per litre slowly. Feed them grow nutes until the vertical growth stops, then start (gently again) with the bloom/flower nutes.

Keep it simple until you can read your plants and are sure they are happy/healthy with what you are giving them.

Other than that - again, the PH meter is essential. If it were me and i didnt have a ph meter - i would probably buy some bottled water that has a PH of about 6.2-6.4 and flush the hell out of it. then add a small amount of ntrients to get the NPK back on track. BUT i would really wait for a proffesional to come along and advise you.

Sorry i cant be of more help

I appreciate you taking your time for little ol' me and I will get a better picture for you my friend, later today. It feels kind of awkward asking such a newbie question considering all the fantastic autos i've seen on this site. Hopefully I will be amongst you guys shortly.

So my plan thus far will be to flush them and let them only drink water for about a week and see how they feel about it. I just came back from the shop where I bought some bottled water wich I will feed them after the flush. If they recover before my weekly plan I will add just a small amount of nutrients. How does this sound?

Don't feel awkward, Megatron. Welcome to the forum man. If you can't find an answer ask away fella. What, you think any of us here have stopped learning and asking questions? Nope. :D

If you do flush them I'd advise feeding them the next time you put fluids in the soil as there'll be next to nothing left in the soil after a flush. What we want to avoid is a deficiency later on while the soil is still wet from a post-flush watering.

With the size of the pot she's in and that cola, and what looks like a mulit nutrient deficiency, and crucially with no way of measuring the ph of the nutrient solution, I'd be inclined to flush her with three times the pot size in plain tapwater and then when it dries out give her a good feed approximately 0.7ml/ltr of those soil nutes.

That's my best guesstimate with no ph readings.

:peace:

I'm by no means even close to knowing what the hell I'm doing when growing, but I would suggest what Big Buddha said, but remember to let your tap water sit for a day or two to let the chlorine in the tap water evaporate...

I would go to wally world and but some bottled water in the 1 gallon jugs and flush it that way.

I would also suggest that you pm Muddy. He is the man that new growers should go to. Not that everyone does not have good advice, but sometimes too many cooks spoil the stew. If you know what I mean!

Dude you really need a ph meter though.
Good luck bro oh and welcome to AFN! :smokebuds:

ph this plain tap water to 6.5 even if you gotta go find a store that sells litmus paper or the fish tank liquid tester drops...

then follow the advice of buddah...

no worries mate... we are all always learning more... you will be among us shortly... :toke:

Thank you for your kind words! I will definitely follow BigBuddhas advice. Unfortunatly, I ran out of time today and my plants are now sleeping so I will get the flushing/pictures up first thing in the morning. Hopefully her condition haven't worsened by then. I try to read as much as I can so I don't ask stupid questions but youknow, sometimes you just got to ask and I'm glad you guys took me in without making me feel stupid. I really appreciate your hospitality.
