:smoking: what's up guys? ...sorry I missed the tag, sometimes they don't notify,.. I found this by pure chance!

...weeeelll, since I'm mainly on OD grower, and auto's get a mix of Sun and supp' lighting, I can't really say from direct experience,.. I try to get them 19-20 hours of total light, and haven't done a full 24/0 grow yet, (not in the right place for that these days),... from what i gather, it's pretty variable with cost/benefit between 20/4 and 24/0,.. strain differences, light quality, nutrition, temp/RH, etc.,... all these things have significant influence, and without a true control group with standardized, carefully controlled env. and nute' parameters, any number of influencing factors could account for the observed differences,... Derek and Seabass have made good points on this,... It should be noted that photosynthesis and respiration, the energy releasing breakdown of sugars made by PS, operate independently of each other,.. respiration basically never stops,....For sure, as we all have seen growth does occur in dark,.... True, auto's technically need no "rest" period, but that's not to say under certain circumstances it wouldn't be beneficial,... many folks run 24/0 for veg', then when bloom is well under way, shift to 20/4,... I do believe parentage genetics potentially come into play here,.. something with fair amounts of long season Sativa/landrace in it might fare better with that extra dark time,.. all anecdotal for my part on this, but over the years in the Infirmary some troubles with this have showed up; poor bud development, stubborn, late triggering, and/or poor breeding/bad luck-of-the-genetic-draw,... sometimes dropping light hours simply helped!

theoretically it shouldn't, buuuut,...

... The diurnal leaf stem droops is something I haven't found explanation for,... not all my plants do it, some in the same grow will, others don't,.. often they 'relax" the leaf posture even before sunset!... right back up my morning,... same thing for the upright "praying" posture, though that is more common with mine,.. but then, it's the freakin' Sun, right?

-- that tends to stay permanent past a point too,...
