That does not look lik a cal def, more likely a pH issue as you said. This early I have to wonder about the pH of the soil.

Fantasmo#4 and DBC#2 are going nicely now. DBC#4 has been slow to say the least, as so I started another one this past Friday and has been dubbed DBC#5, should #2 not take off soon #5 will be replacing her.
