Hello,

I want to grow auto's in pots, outdooors. I do not under any circumstance want them to be stunted. Does anyone have any recommendation for what size pots at a minimum for most auto's to thrive ?, I got soil, ph etc all good, I don't want to make a mistake on too small pot size but don't want to go overkill either :-) ? Thanks for any advice :peace:

I would say then go with 10-15 liter pots. Start them in their final pot so you dont have to re pot them.

Thanks Justin, I'm gonna sprout them in jiffy pots then direct to final pot. Are you sure you don't mean 10-15 gallon pots ? Litres sounds so small !! thanks
:five:

I know when growing indoors that anything over 15 liter pots is overkill...not 100% sure about outdoors tho... but autos dont need big pots like photo plants do.

edit: But hey man...I can be wrong so wait for growers with better knowledge when it comes to growing outdoors in soil.

I am a coco freak..lol

Justin

That's 2 or 3 gallon pots in American haha. For outdoor though, it would be worth mentioning that generally the plants get bigger and like bigger pots :) but autos will take just about any pot, they'll just be happier with the biggest pot you can fit. 5 gallon for outdoor is pretty popular it seems :) and Welcome!

Cool ! thanks guys, well I' was planning on 80 litre pots, so I would hope that would be more than sufficient for autos !

Uh hang on lol, 80 liters pots might be in the overkill zone depending on what you're planning to run lol. If you've fancied some of the huge Dutch Passions or some XXL's from Dinafem then maybe :)

Welcome Vas D,

It is difficult to comment as I don't know your climate, but 80 liters sounds too much. 5 Gallon would be my chioce, tops.

Good luck chum, eP.

Depends a lot on the auto, I would go 3gal for smaller autos and 5 for larger. Can I ask why you are growing in containers instead of the ground?

My son and I just finished a out door auto grow [ Auto super skunk ] one plant was in a 30 ltr pot rest 10 ltr , the 30 ltr was way bigger , and the root ball was nearly 3 times bigger as well , so I would say no smaller than 10 ltr . mind you it was our first Auto grow .
