Mixing a basic all purpose organic soil; feedback wanted/welcome

Opened my soil bin today and saw white puffs of mold here and there inside, like little bits of cotton that had settled on the surface. Is this good? Bad? I'm used to panicking at the sight of mold, but I reminded myself that healthy soil has fungus in it, and traditional it's black mold you worry about. I didn't want to upset the mycelium spreading throughout the soil if this was a good sign, so I added some water (not sure if it's too dry or not, so I periodically add some water to replace what evaporates out) and covered it back up with some extra space for air and water to escape.

Its all good. Mold will happen in there. Are ya stirring it up an turning it over?

I have been periodically; I didn't want to today until I had some more solid advice on whether I should be worried about this.

Thats a good thing, I wish mine would of done that

I had some left over soil that got hella moldy now my new batches won't don't ask me lol

Well, it definitely smells even earthier in there. I stirred the pile today, and it's still nice, loose and dark. I'm very excited to use it in the next couple weeks!

Before you grow with it do your self a favor and have it tested at a lab for nutrient content, A4 recommended it to me and as it turned out mine was very high in salts. I just recently found the source of my salts and it was the mushroom compost that I get around here and I noticed that you have mushroom compost as well, so IMHO its better safe than sorry….

Nice to see another member coming over to the dark side. :dig:

Looks like you have plenty of help so far, wishing you much success with your soil! I will do my best to bump in from time to time and see what you have going.

yeah buddy!awesome job brutha man!! yes black mold is evil and green is usually not good either but its tolerable though.just make sure your green doesnt outweigh in amount of white fuzzy's lol !!! And ideally after you mix it up all together the first time you should leave it be for the first week then mix even better once last time then it should sit un disturbed for three weeks then turn again then the last leg of blending though..stop adding water unless you know 100% that the squeeze test is telling you that ya need water.less wet is better that overly wet/moist..
