How do you use the mosquitoes dunk against gnats?

1 doughnut in 1 gallon then just water the plants?

Thanks,
:peace:

Whoa! Nah, for one gallon I'd use like a little less than a quarter of a dunk, than even though there's warnings all over the package, I just crumbled it up ( its crumbled easy becomes granular) I than mix it into the soil before planting.... Knock on wood have been gnat free ever since, also really haven't even used any since switching to promix and sunshine mix #4. Sending a big no gant :karma cloud:

OMG :) I did not receiveve them yet, right on time buddy

Here is my problem,

I use A.J. Innes Multi purpose Compost and I always get those gnats.
They were under kind of control previous runs but now first time using airpots and it is far more invasive
I put currently stockings on them (am doing SBR 70 and Ghaze99) and it works quiet nicely, coupled with the yellow stickers traps.
But I want to terminate them so was thinking diluting that doughnut and water the plants
Can it be done that way?

2. Now you said you put before planting.
I am in 10L Airpots
Am gonna start more plants in few days and was thinking of diluting that stuff and water the soil before planting (like 3-5 days before)
If so, how much?

but you crumble it direct in soil and then plant?
A quarter of doughnut crumbled in my 10L soil? All mixed trough or only first couple cm tops?
and then do as usual?

Thanks,

Toke, sorry yes crumbled throughout the soil, the water method is for when you started off with no gnats than planted as than get them... When you crumble and put in water its hard to dissolve it... So you could also put on top layer. Air pots are a whole other animal with so many entry points for the gnats... So yes crumble a quarter of a dunk, mix very well into soil your going to use in the 10l pot. Take care brother and good luck!

Thanks!
I need to use the 2 methods cz I have 1 run going-on and preparing a second one:

So the water method for the one on-going:
. A quarter of Dunk in 1 Gallon water?
. Can you dissolve in hot water? Like molasses?
. Then apply as normal watering?
. Apply one time only? Or repeat till no gnats activities?

Second method, soil preparation before planting for the one to come:
. A crushed Quarter of Dunk per 10 L soil amount?

Peace!

The most effective larvae killer we've found! For outdoor use, place Mosquito Dunks in ponds or standing water and it's active ingredient, BTI (Bacillus thuringiensis subspecies israaelenses) kills mosquito, black fly and thrip larvae for 30 days or more, avoiding annoying mature insects.
While floating they slowly release a long term biological larvacide killing the larvae before they hatch into adults. Will not effect fish, plants, people or wildlife. Use in birdbaths, flowerpots, rain barrels and gutters. Use one dunk per 100 square feet of water surface.
For indoor gardening use, Mosquito Dunks are perfect for eliminating the new variety of thrips plaguing the US as this particular bacteria eats anything in a larval stage. It may take a couple of weeks, but it does work.
Hydroponics Application: Place an appropriate portion of a Mosquito Dunk into a nylon sock (helps prevent solid debris) and drop into reservoir. If your infestation is overwhelming, after 24 hours, knead the Dunk slightly to help intensify bacteria saturation - this will shorten the lifespan of the Dunk.

Soil and Soilless Plants: Put a Mosquito Dunk into a nylon sock and soak in water for a few days - Use 1/2 of the innoculated water to thoroughly water plants. Refill container with water and continue to soak same Dunk and repeat watering process. Replace Dunk after 30 days if needed.
Comes in package of 6 Mosquito Dunks. Alternate wetting and drying will not reduce it's effectiveness. Disks may be broken into smaller pieces or secured within nylon sock to avoid being washed away.

Peace!

Copy and paste from here and there:

1/4 TEASPOON per pot, crumbled on top. Refresh every 3 months or each time you add new soil to grow.

It is OK for dunk to dry out between waterings, it won't hurt effectiveness.

It is not necessary to add to watering can. Just sprinkle on top of soil and when you water, it activates the dunks.

Adding Dunk Bits to water is messy. It clogs up watering cans and sticks to the sides. I already tried it that way first in my experiments in fighting the Dreaded Fugus Gnats.
take my advice just sprinkle on top of soil or put it in a mesh bag in a resevoir to keep it from getting all over and clogging lines. Dunks are designed to dry out and it does not hurt them.
It is not necessary to add to watering can. Just sprinkle on top of soil and when you water, it activates the dunks.
Then next time you water, the dunks activate again. For 3 months.
Then you gotta add another sprinkle.

The good news is that fungus gnats smoke fine when dried, you will hardly notice them at all
Don't give up! Dunks work, but if there is a large infestation, you will see them keep hatching out for several weeks. After week 4 you should have no more gnats hatching. This works, but it is NOT instant death, rather a slow, cruel torture of the little bastards.
The adults that are flying around are laying more eggs, which are hatching and removal of the adult population will help.
Use TANGLEFOOT around the edges of pots and on the bottom of the stems. This is a sticky substance that will catch crawling adults.
Hang fly paper strips all over your grow!!!!! This will catch flying adults.
OR you can get rid of adults with a pyrethrin bomb if it is not too late in flower.
It is best to get rid of them in veg!
Good luck, KEEP fighting the good fight.
Remember you have to add more dunk to all new soil brought in too! Have you got a bag open or stored nearby for them to breed in ? Clean under the pots too! I forgot to tell you that. Washing the saucers under the pots helps too!

peace!
