Mephisto Genetics most potent mephisto strain.

in the context of individual breeders it's at least giving you an idea of what they think of relative thc potency of their own strains. do they actually have em tested at those numbers? no idea

I think to achieve the top levels in potency it’s down to the skill of the grower and the equipment used. Also think potency is in the eye of the beholder due to how everyone reacts differently to all the compounds in cannabis.
As to equipment effecting the potency, I last grew under a 400w hps and although it was nice weed i grew it was no where near close to the potency of stuff grown under 1000’s of watts of HPS. This time I’ve invested in some proper equipment and going to use everything available to help me achieve the results I know are possible. I’m in a 10x5 tent and using two Optic 8+’s from Optic LEDs. My environment and temperatures are all controlled and the tent runs at 23-25C and 45% humidity during late flower. I’m using CO2 as well and all my HPS grower mates are jealous of the lights especially! And they’re using 1000w gravitas!!
I’m in no way an expert in growing but without the investment in the lights and getting the environment right, I don’t think I’d achieve over 20% in thc or get the bud quality I’m seeing without getting things right equipment wise. Of course you need to put the work in too to achieve the top results. I’m probably spending around 2-3 hours a day tending to everything.
as for what I’m growing at the moment I’m betting the AvT and white crack will be the strongest, although that’s just going from how they’re growing. I’ll let you know in a month or so on the winner of the grow.

In his classic "Marijuana Grower's Inside Guide" Mel Frank says that the grower is responsible for about 15% of the potency.
For example, a 20% strain grown by a good grower might have only 17% when grown by a bad grower.

Maybe, I’m certainly no expert on this matter but with the combination of gaining experience, equipment improvements and using everything available to the grower can bring better results all round.

well, 2nd grow coming up quick, actually first grow i care about more than having it just survive to the finish so it'll be my first documented big auto grow, but hell, after that first grow -15% sounds about right. will be happy if the next comes out thc and yield average... yay striving to step up to mediocrity! woohoo!

I have to disagree with this a little. Genetics are the single most important factor. Then grower skill/set up/lights, ect. A crappy strain won't be potent even if grown perfectly. And a 20% strain could easily be only be 10% by a bad grower. Feeding different nutes alone will change the potency. Many factors for success. But without good genes, you won't reach 20% no matter your skill level. Peace slowandeasy

I don't get it? what don't you agree with? he didn't say that genetics were not the most important factor.

I am saying that Genetics are the most important factor. The 15% responsible comment makes no sense. The grower is responsible for everything else beyond genetics. Every decision the grower makes will effect the potential potency. Does that make sense now?
