you REALLY REALLY want to keep a close eye on the temp of the BOX it self. Cardboard is flammable. And any material that can burn, will catch fire more easily if it has been exposed to high temperatures for long periods of time. I very much understand being on a budget, but please re-think using this for a cab. Use an old pc case, an old file cabinet, or go to a junk shop or auction house. I just bought a 6ftx2ftx2ft cabinet at an auction for $2.00!! A 250 watt CFL will get hot enough to be dangerous.

Yeah, I was thinking that last night as i was looking at it before i went to bed. Once I get my hangers, I am going to do a dry run, and see what's up. My seeds won't be here for at least a week, so I have time to modify it, or junk it and start new. MY thoughts since I got this far, are that this box would be fine if I used 4 60 watt bulbs. The Lil Lady will be in town today and hitting up a few thrift stores to see what she can dig up, too.

Nice DIY there man. Keep it simple! Keeping the wife happy makes things a lot easier in the long run

It get's too humid and collapses and then catches fire (
Or it gets too humid - it doesnt collapse but gets mouldy and you get mouldy buds (perhaps) ((

My first cab was a plastic Tool Box from Homebase - about £70 and i used my extremely limited diy skills to attach the lights, cuts the vents and attach an out take fan and carbon filter. It wasn't idea as it was bit short in height - but it was safe and grew almost enough buds for me!

THANK YOU!!! When I grew my photo's before I moved here, I had 2 rooms and a closet to grow in, so all I had to do is black out my windows. I was definitely spoiled, lol. Shortly before I moved, I bought my first T5 (8 light x 4ft) and was super impressed with how it kept my mommy plants, and grew my freeby auto cheese candy (Delicious Seeds) that I vowed to never use HID lighting again, since I am only growing for me and my Queen, now. I knew that the 250 watt light would be big, but DAYUM!!!:Brain Fog..: it is much bigger than anticipated, and thus, my thoughts last night, and combined with the warnings from y'all have me ready to take away from my Gaming budget, to do what is needed. My "accountant" is in agreement, in fact, she is sitting here next to me with that smug "I told you so" look on that pretty little face. Annnnd I just got smacked.... YAY!!!

u could technically use cardboard...i remember diy days where we would coat it in tar and a primer to keep it from being water proof

Thanks for the offer !!! However, I live in the northern parts of Corn/Soybean country USofA. I do have a friend who lives in Cardiff, who grows. She moved there a few yrs ago, for a guy, who later dumped her, but she loves the place so much she made it her home. She was/is my mentor from my early days of growing.

Yup, a quick test run produced hella heat, in that lil box of death.
So it is in to the trash can, and now I am waiting for a Tent I just ordered, to get here on Tuesday.
the tent measures 36"x 20" x 62"

Well, I decided to see about cracking some bag seeds that I have been holding onto for a "rainy day." 5 seeds, of which are 2 Critical OG, 2 Sugar Black Rose, and a Power plant. I am just not sure which is which. My plan is to reverse whichever ones pop, and collect pollen to brush a couple branches on my Black Creams. I normally just start my seeds in soil, but I decided to do the paper towel method, because I don't want to waste any soil, in case they decide to not pop.
