My Attempt at Living Organic Soil!

Hi Guys, just wanted to post this bit of information hopes it helps someone, Especially Me, lol,
My Quest to use my TAP water!!!!!!!

Chloramine aka (monochloramine)
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chloramine

http://www.blueearthlabs.com/municipal-water-treatment/chloramine-2/

Now I know for a fact that Chloramine is present in my water and my plants HATE it, one day after watering with tap water( after letting it sit with pump a couple of day) leaves get dry and brown, using bagged soil FFOF and Roots, had to switch to Distilled water/calMag and they recovered. But, I already pay for my tap water so why buy MORE.... so, my quest to be able to use my tap water begins:
after months of research I narrowed it down to the cheapest possiable solution, an aquarium liquid dechlorinating product.( if it's good for Fish, why not my plants too, After looking into R/O water filters, active carbon filter, etc...

BUT, after reading the article below, It seems that if I am using Organic Soil, (which I have cooking for 2 weeks now) the Chloramine in the water will be neutralized by the Microbes in the Soil?
Can this be true? OR AM I NOT UNDERSTANDING THIS RIGHT? Or does it depends on the amounts of Amonia in the water? ( Amonia mixed with chlorine is CHloramine).

if I were to buy one,I would get a higher end one because I would be using it a lot. but since Im fortunate enough to not have chloramines in my water i dont filter at all. but others have filters too. not sure which one(s) they use.

Any organic matter will complex the chloramine. You can use some lower quality soil from outside. Ascorbic acid or humic acids are another option. Vita D Chlor used to have an online calculator. I've used their product in the past.

Thanks @KIS, so, humic acids in the water, will neutralize the Chloramine?
I was also advised to use sodium thiosulphate with my tap water, upon looking it up, it's a treatment for cynide poison. ( who know) that stuff is also cheap. Any input on sodium thiosulphate?
Thanks

hi guys,
so, im a week or so away from starting my first organic grow, here is where im at now:
soil cooking for 29 days now, I will be using 2 5gal. Superroots Air pot, my water source will be counter top water filter(here if anyone is interested) http://dtwusa.com/index.php/water-f...rio-essential-3-stage-counter-top-filter.html
and i will be doing a SWICK SYSTEM setup, (self watering) cat liter box with perlite, water and pot on top, just learned about this. Any input on this?
just one more thing to learn about and i will be ready to go!!! MULCHING (top dressing) i believe, EOF, or hecno touched on this already just cant seem to find the information on here.

Also, i feel Stupid asking this question because its my SOIL!!! BUT, can anyone tell me by looking at my recipe if my soil is to hot to start from seed? transplanting does not work well for me..
thanks, guys for all your help and input! :thanks: :pass:

If you have any low value seed like bagseed or homegrown that's what I do just try it out. Also you can make a cup shape depression in your pot and fill it with seedling mix. Or check out @912GreenSkell instatransplant pots. Good luck on getting those babies going!

Hi Jraven, that's what I do with my bagged soil, cup of fox farm happy frog in the middle, and plant my seed, wasn't sure if I could do that with the organic soil! Thanks,
Or maybe I'm over thinking this?
